Some of the usual dingbats (closeted Israelis? or simply Obama haters?) on other threads have asked if Palestinians are "winning".....and, of course, the answer is negative if you speak of battlefield victories....A bunch of Palestinians with rocks and small weaponry cannot ever defeat an Israel who has been receiving billions of US dollars to boost their armed forces.

However, European nations and the U.N. may have had enough....and what Palestinians cannot win in battlefileds, they are winning in the world theatre......Other countries who may not be subjected to the lobbying muscles that the Israeli lobby has on the U.S. congress, have come to realize who the victims really are in the Israeli-Palestinian struggle.....and after almost 70 years of discord and blood in the region, these other countries are poised to hand over to Israel a political defeat.

European Nations Consider Recognizing Palestinian State - WSJ

From the WSJ article.....

Some of the U.S.’s closest European allies are threatening to follow Sweden and unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state if steps aren’t taken to revive the Middle East peace process, according to senior U.S. and European officials.

This emerging position in some of Europe’s capitals is placing the Obama administration in a diplomatic bind reflecting its own strained relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the breakdown this spring of U.S.-led talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.

We’re not going to wait forever,” said a senior European official, referring to his country’s potential move to recognize a Palestinian state. “Other European countries are poised to follow Sweden.”

and here we wonder why there is so much Islamic terrorism in the world -- it works!

Never, ever wonder (just by some remote chance) that perhaps recognizing Palestine as a legitimate state, that such may curb terrorism?....Don't strain your brain too much, just "wonder" a bit.
(Unless you're Netanyahu, of course.)

A person would have to be pretty stupid to think positive reinforcement for terrorism would actually curb it.

Thankfully, I am not stupid.

Well, the jury may still be out on your stupidity......

These Palestininas were not BORN as terrorists......When someone is stealing your land and places you on basically a "reservation".......you fight......Following your twisted example, our own colonists were ALSO "terrorists," don't you think?

LOL. Israeli bullets and bombs will pierce right through any UN or European Union recognition paperwork and kill the Palestinians anyway. Kind of like that Restraining Order all the cool girls get against their ex-boyfriend. You know, the one he walks right through to disgustingly beat her up again because she can't (or more often won't) defend herself.

The so called Palestinians are just a pawn in the game of ridding the world of the Jews.. If they get a state tomorrow it won't make a bit of difference. And anyway, if that is all it is about, why haven't any of the Arab nations given them a chunk of land to call their own? That's right, because they don't give two shits about the "Palestinians".

Are you really this clueless?

Very apropos that you begin your wish for more carnage in the region with an "LOL"....kind of shows where your twisted conscience is at...

Israel is self-isolating herself with its war-mongering leadership and apartheid-like methods of oppressing Palestinians......Israel has survived because other nations bought into the "we're the eternal victims" syndrome......

As other nations are slowly but surely stating that enough is enough, Israel survival is going to have to depend on its wish to stop victimizing others.

I think the world should be willing to recognize the rights of the Palestinians to have State as long as the Palestinians are willing to recognize Israels rights too.

Why haven't other nations given Palestinians THEIR land????

Interesting question.....and probably warranting the same answer as to why the U.S. did not choose to give....oh, I don't know.....maybe Alabama to take in all the European displaced Jews.

Would you have agreed with that?

Thank you, and of course, Palestinians should recognize Israel also...but with borders drawn by objectively determined others, NOT just Israel.

I don't have a Conscience. Conscience is for those who have feelings or emotions. I have neither. My life is based on two concepts Righ and Wrong, which were both defined thousands of years ago. Beyond that, nothing is necessary.

Israel is self-isolating herself with its war-mongering leadership and apartheid-like methods of oppressing Palestinians......Israel has survived because other nations bought into the "we're the eternal victims" syndrome.......

A set of policies the United States could stand to learn from, with the exception of the "victimhood" concept; which I don't personally see regarding Israel.

As other nations are slowly but surely stating that enough is enough, Israel survival is going to have to depend on its wish to stop victimizing others.

Israel's survival has and always will depend on one thing.... their willingness to KILL people who get in the way of their survival. I don't see any international actions changing that.

UN already has (for all intents and purposes) so why not.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.... care to try again?

Well, maybe you should ask a grown up to explain it to you.

The West Bank belongs to Israel, fair and square, won from Jordan in a war Israel did not start, and then abandoned by same.

Short of physical force, no one will get Israel to do anything with the West Bank that Israel does not want to do.

Agreed.....from the article you cited:
"........the U.S. is more than willing to stick to an unpopular position even if it’s opposed by virtually every other government on earth...."

Europe is "behind the curve" on this issue mostly because within those countries there is a huge push-back from Israeli lobbying....but as the belligerent attitude of Netanyahu has shown, it is just a matter of time before Israel (and the U.S.) will stand alone in blocking Palestinian statehood.

As I stated before (above) Palestinians are not too far from our own historical stance when we fought King George III for our own independence and, admittedly, willing to employ acts of terrorism against an oppressing regime.

Horespoo.
The American colonies rebelled mostly because the King-in-Parliament refused to recognize and protect the rights they enjoyed and English citizens, rights and protections they fully expected to enjoy because there were, in fact, English citizens.

No such parallel can be even remotely drawn with regard to Israel and the ex-Jordanians living in the West Bank..

Whether you intended to or not, the above is real funny.

Not many people would (with a straight face) label the European Jews as the rightful inhabitants of Palestine...and all the Arabs as "foreigners."
Hilarious....thanks

Only because of your apparent unfamiliarity with the history of the conflict, especially in reference to the West Bank.
