But the admiration was not returned in kind. Lincoln had no use for Marx.

He wisely refused to answer a letter sent to him by Marx and that was the end of that.

Marx was relevant in Europe for European problems.

In the US, we had no problems like they had in Europe. Plenty of land here. Plenty of opportunity. Plenty of room for advancement. And no Class System.

In Europe, with its Class System, you stayed pretty much where you were born.

Besides, Marx was mostly an idiot. THE worst faux intellectual of all time.

Do NOT conflate Marxism with socialism. All Marxists are socialists, but not all socialists are Marxists.

Marxism has failed. Utterly. But the disease known as 'socialism' lives on.

Marx was brilliant in his analysis of economic systems. He and Adam Smith shared many, many views. HOWEVER, he did not create a perfect system--I'm not sure that one exists.

BTW, socialism is identical to capitalism except for the issue of who has power, wealth, and control.
