Mr. Hurd might be right, and the Republican Party might indeed nominate a never-Trumper. Considering the fact that the establishment GOP still controls the party machinery, and there will be a lot of D's crossing over in open primaries, so I'd never say never.

But a Romney, Kasich or Cheney candidacy would be doomed in the general election and they would never get a chance to serve much less "work across party lines".

The truth is that millions of never-never-Trumpers will never vote for a Republican candidate who disses the 74 million Little Trumpsters.
