Fake news crying child used by Time magazine & CNN was never separated from her mother

Story is finished except for the whining trumpers. The photo, photoshop, whatever, is branded and will be a part of the trump legacy forever. People understand the symbolic message behind it an no amount of trumper whining will change the impact of the picture of a weeping child at the mercy of the horrible evil buffoon King Donald.
It is sad that this too is being turned into another "fake news" narrative. When a Getty photo and the interview with the photographer as back up are pronounced "fake news" or "photoshopped," we know the truth is in trouble in this country.

The TRUTH.
The photographer left out all lot of important details, also to produce a narrative that wasn't there.
1) That he witnessed the agent telling the woman to put the child down so he could search her.
2) That the agent immediately allowed the woman to pick the child back up after only a couple minutes.
3) That the mother and child got into a van TOGETHER.
This is called lying by omission.
4) After vetting the photo, and learning that the mother and daughter were NOT separated... TIME chose to use the image of the child crying with a caption "Welcome to America" and then use an image of the President as if he is the cause of the child crying.

If you can't see this is disingenuous and wrong then you are not quite who I thought you were.
Well get that straight right now, then. I am exactly who I'm being in this thread and I'm not one bit ashamed of it. Here is the actual interview with the photographer, who if I remember correctly, explained all of the things you are accusing him of omitting. I can't speak to the TIME cover except to say the cover is obviously not a real photo, so I'm not sure what you're complaining about there. Mag covers are artistic, and if you ask me, they nailed it.

The image of a crying child at the border that has been used by Time Magazine and CNN to push open border propaganda has been proven completely misleading given that the Honduran girl was never separated from her mother.

Fake News: Crying Child Used by Time Magazine & CNN Was Never Separated From Her Mother
------------------------------------------

This is as good as the two losers who posted pictures of Melani wearing a rain coat with some bs saying on it and the stupid asses believed it omfg. Leftist Trump haters are so beyond pathetic there aren't even any word left to descripe how pathetic they are.

Fake news is right. Info Wars, the fake news site that said the Parkland kids were crisis actors, that John Podesta was running a child sex ring out of a DC pizza parlour, and other right wing fake news hits.

You lying piece of Russian shit. This won’t work.

Russia...Russia...Russia!
Marsha...Marsha...Marsha!
(eye roll...eye roll...eye roll!)

We’re going to keep reminding posters about the Russian trolls on this board until they’re gone. I know you’ll miss them because you believe all the shit they post.

I smell vodka and caviar on your breath. Da comrade. But seriously, the Time cover has been debunked by left leaning media. What more do you need?

That stupid cyka still gets off on thinking everyone who doesn't agree with the moron is a RUSSIAN bot one has to be beyond a fkn retarded moron to even believe that Russian bot bs. Which was started by Clinton and Obama and you can't prove anything to someone whose severely brain damaged.

If it doesn't fit their fantasy world it's fake and you are a Russian this idiot is the only one on here accusing people of being Russian bots lmfao.

You’re a lying piece of shit out to destroy the USA. Like most of your posts, this post seeks to divide Americans, destroy trust in the MSM, and in the government. It what you Russians do. That’s why you’re here.

Sewing mistrust and division and to deflect from Trump’s legal troubles.
You are a one stupid fk who needs mental help.

OH MORE TRUTH HURT , OH NOOOOO. RUN ...........H RUN............

Just exactly where is my responsibility with regards to this child who wants to violate the laws of my nation?

Here is what I am surprised about your take.
You know the real problem here? Is that this woman put her child through living hell for A MONTH... enduring God knows what so SHE could get to America. She was arrested before, and sent back before. Now she will be sent back again.
Is she again going to make a 2 YEAR OLD go through a month long terrible ordeal again?
Or maybe in a couple years when she has another child, make TWO children go through this?
This country cannot accept every person who seeks to come here from all of Mexico and Central America. We cannot. It would be 10's of millions of people.
The story of this child is not what happened to her HERE, which there is not one bad thing that did. Kind of important thing there.
But how bad Central America is, and that there are millions of these children.

THAT is the story. But we don;t here that. Instead her image is used to produce a false narrative.
There is no journalism here. Only Gotcha tactics to keep the hate going.

Just exactly where is my responsibility with regards to this child who wants to violate the laws of my nation?
She should go home with her mother, is my guess, like a whole lot of them. Just figure out a way to do that without making the poor kid's life any more hell than it already has been. The past two administrations managed. I'm sure this one can, too. They have a boom in families from Central America coming here, and it's causing problems for what to do with them, but the Zero Tolerance policy instituted is what opened the flood gates. I guess they've still got the same Zero Tolerance policy, but now they have to go back to keeping the children with the parents. It sounds to me as if they've pretty much come full circle. The laws need substantial revision.

Just exactly where is my responsibility with regards to this child who wants to violate the laws of my nation?

They aren't intelligent enough to realize we all pay for these illegals. High school economics wasn't a class they passed. They can't even grasp the taxes used causing their pay checks to shrink because stupidity doesn't see it unless their check literally said " $2.00" for that kid in the detention center" it's for their lunch. They don't get it.

it shouldn't have to "represent real news" - find a "real" picture of the story and post it. posting a photoshop cover designed to get you emotional on something is just that - designed to get you emotional.

what did she think would happen as she paddled her raft across the rio grande to get here illegally anyway?
The photographer explained that: It is not allowed by border security to enter those areas or take those pics. You know that.

She knew she would be arrested--she and the others paddled directly into the arms of the border patrol agents and requested asylum. She would not have known that her toddler was going to be taken to another facility.

I'm back to this thread because of an article I just read in another thread. From that, I'm wondering how in the world this mother and child were NOT separated. Trusting MindWars isn't something I usually do, but I didn't have any way to check it. This article from the National Review makes it seem pretty inevitable that they would have been separated. Maybe MindWars can explain how that happened?

Separating Kids at Border: The Truth | National Review
no. i don't know that, oldlady. i've not made a life study of the situation down there so i have a lot to learn along the way.

but when i studied journalism - we didn't make pictures up to illustrate a point. we took a profound picture and let it say whatever needed to be said and all of it was based on the event being true and real.

if this is such a huge problem
and if families are being torn apart as a regular occurance down there
then how can it be so hard to find a picture that illustrates this truthfully?

it's like katie couric editing her anti-gun show to "illustrate" a problem that didn't exist naturally. it's a lie.

justifying it is part of our problems these days.
When the photographer TELLS everyone what the circumstances were, it is not a lie. I already told you, the photographers are not allowed in the detention facilities so they can't take pics of children as they are being actually taken away.

If the pic were taken and the media did not interview the photographer and make it clear that the pic was of a little girl crying when her mother was strip searched at the border, you would be right that it was fraudulent. That was NOT the case.
i'm a photographer also. worked my way through college as a photojournalist.

this *is* the case. it goes against everything i was taught about journalism.

"strip searched"

for the love of god oldlady - read the stories.

"Ruiz, who was not available for an interview Friday, confirmed as much to CBS. He said agents asked the mother, Sandra Sanchez, to put down her daughter, nearly 2-year-old Yanela, so they could search her. Agents patted down the mother for less than two minutes, and she immediately picked up her daughter, who then stopped crying."

The crying Honduran girl on the cover of Time was not separated from her mother

she's inches from her clothed mother in this picture so please - stop making shit up.
I didn't make it up; it is the words the photographer used in his interview. I thought it was weird, too, since I worked at a prison and I KNOW what a strip search is, but I wanted to tell you exactly what the photographer said. I don't lie.
ok - fine. then this story is different and tells something else.

i have a man taking a photo out of context and lying about what is happening in there and i'm now supposed to take him at his word we're strip searching people at the border?

the photographer at this point is a total liar as proven by his photo AND words.

this is why so many have a problem with "journalism" these days. and i for one wish they'd call it something else because getting people emotionally riled up over blatant lies is most certainly NOT journalism.

if you're ok with the photo and the photographer lying about what happened - that's on you. but once i see someone lies like that, i pretty much got no use for them. and no - i don't believe all the shit trump says either w/o looking it up for more background and it doesn't matter whether i have use for him or not, he's the president.

I'm glad to hear they didn't separate her from her mom. She's been through enough.

The Getty photographer who took that pic was interviewed fairly soon after the pic, and he explained that he didn't have a chance to talk to the mother, but he was thinking about the fact that neither the mother or the child knew what was going to happen once they reached the detention facilities-- that they would be separated (at least so he thought). That's what the new policy said.

Everyone who watches REAL news knew that. It still represents the policy perfectly, I think, and so does the TIME cover.

I think the picture shows perfectly the anguish of children who just want their mothers in the middle of a frightening and confusing time. That is what it represents to me.

Every day in America, mothers are arrested and their children are usually crying for mama. Those children are separated from their mother, and many wind up in foster care for weeks, months, or years. However, these are American citizens and therefore do not deserve the angst that appears when illegal aliens are concerned.

I'm with ya. According to the National Review, most of these folks crashing the border from Central America ARE here for economic betterment, despite all the talk of gangs.

She was arrested before, and sent back before. Now she will be sent back again.
Really? I had not heard that. The last article I saw from a poster here said she has three other kids and a husband she left behind in Honduras. If she was already arrested once, I can't understand why she and the child were allowed to remain together, because this zero tolerance thing would require her to be criminally prosecuted for sure. I posted an article from the National Review on the existing laws/policies, and this whole thing is getting more and more fishy smelling if you ask me. Not everything being claimed on this thread can possibly be true. Just keep that in mind.

something else to keep in mind -

if a US citizen mother took her child from her father and ran off to another country, would you give her the child back when they were caught trying to cross the border?

there would be an amber alert out for that kid immediately and the mother would be tossed in jail and child returned to rightful parent.

also - if a white couple in akron ohio for example are selling drugs and are caught - will their kids be arrested with them or will they be taken into custody and let the system do the best it can? far as i know, #2 if no relatives are there to take them in.

why are we insisting on more for people not even willing to use a legal path to our own country?

Sorry, I have to interject here.

This was the second time she entered this country, that makes it a felony. The child should be sent back to the father, and the mother arrested, so time, then deported.

Secondly, she left her country, with the child without the fathers knowledge. Guilty of a second felony, kidnapping!

ALL THIS SAID - we need to put the focus on the problem that is causing all these "band aids" to be flung around as if they're helping.

trump needs to shut the fuck up about walls and how bad mexico can be and work with their government to find a better way for all of us to deal with this. CONGRESS NEEDS TO LEAD THE WAY HERE by attacking problems with the same love affair they have in attacking trump and the right needs to listen to the ideas they have on this as well and FIX THE PROBLEM.

all the rest here in the middle is why we're so divided up. which band aid is better than the other?

Oh quit whining about how unfair life is for Americans; I have heard way too much about how these brown people are ruining our neighborhoods, our economies and our social fabric. It's a mess of bigoted slop.

There was no reason to institute this policy of separating children from parents without doing the proper planning to figure out what in hell they were going to do with them all. In that way, the administration failed, same as it did with its half baked first travel ban. Now that the Pres has figured out it doesn't "look good," he's going to go back to the way it was before, except there is still a zero tolerance policy and the question of what to do with everyone still exists.
It's a mess. And it is not the "criminal" parents who are to blame for that. They're just trying to sneak into the country. It is up to US to deal with that, not them.

Ya, the orange buffoon is really going to let that happen and the Republican congressional cowards are going to stand up to him. What kind of booze are you drinking, or are you on drugs?

Only Gotcha tactics to keep the hate going.

how bad Central America is, and that there are millions of these children.
THAT is the story. But we don;t here that.

The border agent and the ABC News correspondent both said that ICE said this is her 2nd attempt in 5 years to get here and that she was deported back to Honduras in 2013 (without ever successfully getting across border)
Like I said, the REAL story here is lost because of Gotcha journalism. TIME does not care one iota what this girls story is, they only cared to use her image to create a false image (That it is Trump who is causing her pain and tears)
Truth is Trump doesn;t have one damn thing to do with this little girls plight. NONE. NADA - not one f*cking thing. Nothing.
Her story is the same story as millions of other children caught in these traps.
Again, if America said to the world "We will take all children from Mexico and Central America and their parents".... it would be a human catastrophe. We would be so over run with refugees we couldn't possibly handle it. Even as big as we are.

Enough of this Gotcha junk jornalism, including the photographer who left out many details in favor of getting the picture published. (And getting paid nicely in the process).

It is up to US to deal with that, not them.
and ive heard way too much we are strip searching them at the border and believing it out of choice and hate for the other side.

if you hate liars you should HATE THE SHIT out of said photographer.
