Fed judge rules DC's ban on carrying gun outside the home, is unconstitutional

Several pro-gun-rights people have chimed in on the discussion in Clean Debate Zone so far.

No anti-gun-rights people have.

What's the problem?

Come one, come all!

Still a complete absence of any anti-gun-rights people from the debate. Not one of them has shown up to state his point of view.

Have they all decided that the pro-gun-rights people are right, and conceded the debate?

Or are they merely running away from a forum where no one is allowed to use personal attacks, insults, and lies?

The Second-Amendment to the Constitution is quite clear that the people have a right to "bear" arms, which means, to carry arms.
We do have to keep in mind though, that whatever the Constitution doesn't address specifically, the government (local and federal) can fill in with their own laws. Where I reside and in other states, there are signs posted in the bar section of restaurants and at entries to some bars, that firearms are prohibited (wisely so, as alcohol and firearms are a bad mix).

This law is not well drafted regulation. It is flat out restriction, thus unconstitutional.

That's approximately true about local (and state) governments.

It's flatly false about the Federal government.

The Constitution is what creates the Federal government, and gives it its powers. All of them.

And if a power isn't mentioned in the Constitution, then the Federal govt doesn't have that power. And by the 10th amendment, the Fed is forbidden to exercise that power.

State and local governments ARE permitted to make laws about any power not listed in the Constitution... unless the Constitution says flatly that a certain thing (such as the people's right to gun ownership and carry) shall not be infringed. If the Constitution says that, then the state or locals governments, also can't make laws about it.
