Anybody who as ever held a high enough rank in any government law enforcement agency to be affiliated with budget concerns is well aware that the unreported agenda of any government bureaucracy is to get more funding. If you are honest with yourself you quickly realize that the original law enforcement mission sometimes comes in a dismal 2nd place. The FBI employs about 40,000 personnel and yet the incredible 8.1 Billion dollar budget couldn't identify a couple of Russian terrorists in Boston even when the Russians alerted the FBI. A recent post reminds us that the FBI had a hand in the prosecution of a dog fighting ring in Missouri. Who sets the agenda for the federal law enforcement agencies? Political appointees? What politician ever had the balls to challenge the FBI budget? Hoover would have had him or her eviscerated and today the liberal media is content with the status quo even though the Homeland mess has apparently an equal mission and budget.
