The H word.......:ack-1:.... you said the H word!!! Are you serious?!?

hard? :D

the other H word!!!!

heist?

I'm all for trade, I just think they should pay the board for it and play fair at the same time by employing board standards, which isn't happening.

How is this a First Amendment issue?

And I want that practice stopped. I have no desire to be held accountable for somebody using my good name and my posts on this or any other board as a cunning way to sell a product I do not care to see any of my friends financially ruined for buying it if they think it's a favor to me.
You post here anonymously, how is your good name at risk? How would you be held accountable?

Can anybody who advertises here heist the words of other posters to do this? I really don't care for it, and I would thank whoever is doing it to stop doing it.

Once you submit your post, they’re not your words anymore, they belong to the private site administrator who may do with them as he sees fit, including using the words for advertising.

link please?

Someone is using the words I choose in my posts to link to advertisements.

I feel firstly, it is beyond the pale, and I'm so mad I am seeing red.

Secondly, it is underhanded and uncalled-for conduct.

Thirdly, I have no control over the product that is being solicited or advertised. Is it a product that could someday be cancerous? Could it at some point in administration changes be an ad for pornography?

And I want that practice stopped. I have no desire to be held accountable for somebody using my good name and my posts on this or any other board as a cunning way to sell a product I do not care to see any of my friends financially ruined for buying it if they think it's a favor to me.

Advertisers Can Reach Enthusiasts in Forum Foundry`s Highly Targeted Online
Communities Using Clearly-Labeled Sponsored Posts
LONG BEACH, Calif.--(Business Wire)--

Giving advertisers a highly targeted way to reach enthusiasts of the iPhone,
video games, ATVs, motorcycles, photography and even parrots, PostRelease
(PostRelease: broadcast your branded content as sponsored posts and sponsored content on blogs, forums, and content sites - PostRelease.com) today announced that Forum Foundry, Inc.
(Home Page) has added 27 of its forums to the PostRelease forum
network.

Beginning immediately, companies with messages relevant to these highly targeted
online communities can set up a campaign to insert clearly labeled sponsored
posts into targeted online forum discussions.
PostRelease is automated but audited - all posts are reviewed to ensure the content is relevant to the discussion topic. It is this quality control that makes PostRelease so effective: in its year-long beta, PostRelease click-through rates averaged 33 percent, with highs reaching nearly 90 percent.

"PostRelease is the first revenue stream we considered when looking into
monetizing our forum communities," said John Gonzalez, Forum Foundry owner.
"Each of our forums offers advertisers a dedicated audience of people who are
enthusiastic about particular products or activities. PostRelease provides an
efficient and effective advertising solution that enhances the user experience
while driving extremely high response rates for advertisers."

"PostRelease enables forum owners and advertisers to connect with each other in
a way that benefits the forum owner, the advertiser and the forum user," said
Justin Choi, founder and president of Cie Studios, creator of PostRelease.
"Forum owners receive relevant content and a plug-in revenue stream, while
advertisers can share information about their company, product or service to a
hyper-targeted audience in a way that is not intrusive and can actually enhance
the discussion. We`re pleased to add Forum Foundry`s sites to our growing
network of forums."

PostRelease helps companies reach targeted audiences at the point where opinions
are being formed and buying decisions made.

PostRelease posts can include text, pictures, hyperlinks and links to video. The
posts are clearly marked as from PostRelease, and they remain in the lead
position (toward the top of the post list page) of selected forum discussion
categories for seven days. Once released from the top position, the post remains
part of the forum discussion. These posts are archived as forum content, so they
continue to generate responses long after a campaign ends.

According to an analysis of PostRelease results over the past year, the
effectiveness of individual posts increases over time - with response rates
growing as much as 70 percent six months later - because people can discover
those posts directly from search engines.

PostRelease (PostRelease: broadcast your branded content as sponsored posts and sponsored content on blogs, forums, and content sites - PostRelease.com) is the first effective solution for online
forum advertising and influencing word-of-mouth forum discussions. It enables
companies to insert sponsored posts into targeted online forum discussions.
PostRelease empowers marketers to become part of the conversation in forums,
at
a time when opinions are being formed and purchase decisions are being made.
PostRelease was created by Cie Studios, a digital media lab based in Long Beach,

Maybe you don't care who has access to your information, but I do, and I'm willing to bet a bunch of other folks do too.

It's not a 'who', it's a script.

Secondly, as far as anyone getting my email information, a banned staff member of 'a board where I post' already did and the asshole emailed me to recruit me to another board. I was stunned that I received that email as I never gave the asshole my email address - rather violating. How's that for honesty?

So, in my experience, it's not the software that steals information, it's assholes - real persons.

Thirdly, what do you mean, "turning posts into SPAM"? It's going to email posts to me? Again, so what? I have excellent spam filters and I see the posts here, anyway.

And, finally, why is it some seem SHOCKED that a messageboard would try to make money from the board? We get to post, and they get to keep running the posting forum for us to do so. Oh, the horror! A quid pro quo? We can't have THAT.

Forgive my snarkiness, but lately I've seen some posters being shocked about this - about a forum trying to make money from the posting community. I'm finding it very difficult to be appalled, to be honest.

Its a free public forum. You don't have to post. And what makes you think for one moment that they do any of this out of the goodness of their hearts? Any site that has adds up is in it for the money.....

Any and every site you post one gathers information about you..... if you are that unhappy.... push the little off button, turn off you cell phone...and never turn them on again.

Yup. It's all about being a grown up and facing real life.

I would recommend that anyone who is hysterical about this better delete their facebook account and never go to that site, ever.

And, there are quite a few posters who are trying to torque up others about this... WTF?

You have 10 minutes to email me at [email protected], after that it is useless.

That too. I have a hotmail account that I use to register for pretty much anything...ordering pizza, ordering from amazon, etc. - it's my garbage email because I'm a grown up and know that there will be spam.

Hotmail has a built in disposable email option anyone can use. You can use it to track who is sharing your information.

Hotmail now offers disposable email via aliases

For the purposes of a message board jury discussing everything each day is fine. In real life, your not suppose to talk to anyone about the case until you enter the deliberations at the trial's end. We were given notebooks to make our own notes.

And here come the sheep to attempt to lamely justify this.

The OP asked a question and instead of dodging her, or lying to her, I answered her question with the facts, which insulting my intelligence and all the lame justifications in the world don't change. How she reacts to that information is on her and everyone else here, but chosing to ignore it only proves how dumb sheep really are.
