Back in the 1980s we had some really cold weather around Christmas time here in Florida. Rolling backouts. We dealt with it and got on with life.

100 year event? When it happened 10 years ago (and there were warnings about the power grid not being weather proofed then) and it happened 12 years before that (same warnings....same ignoring of these warnings).......?

1898 was the last time they had temperatures recorded this cold.

If you are worried about power outages during bad weather events then buy a backup generator. I did.
