I really think kids these days suck at it because they never had a real bus stop squad. Now you have to have someone there or the damn school buses won't let you off and they do door to door drop-offs. In my day, all the kids in the neighborhood had to hike to one end of the main street or the other to catch the bus and had to hike home from there when the bus dropped you off. If you weren't there when the bus came you were SOL. Now they sit there and blow the horn at your house. There is something very natural and sociable about having all the kids in your hood interacting casually 5 days a week.
