CDZ For violent teens...put their names on a database and allow gun stores to refuse to sell to them....

Okay.

And drastically increase the penalty for anyone who illegally buys guns for anyone, especially minors.
Excellent idea!
But don't expect 2A to be ready to accept it yet. He's always been of the opinion that guns should be permitted to be in the hands of kids too.

One step at a time.

I was 17 when I joined the National Guard, I could have joined the Regular army or marines......i could have then been sent over seas to kill people for the country...then, when I got home, you are saying I can't own a gun to protect my own family?

That makes sense to you?
Thank you for your service, sir.

The last two shooters, one, a left wing authoritarian, eco-fascist....and the latest.....a violent nut job........they were both known to the police and to their schools, both had histories of either violence or making threats of violence....

They couldn't be arrested, and they couldn't be put in a psychiatric hospital......

So......here is a way to catch the few nut jobs who are in the grey area....

If a teen is identified by the school to the point the police are called multiple times, and the police go to their home for violent domestic situations....the police could simply put the kids name and face into a data base and supply it to all of the gun stores in the state...then, when the 18-21 year old shows up....the gun store can simply refuse to sell the kid a gun....

This covers the grey area where the kid doesn't have an actual criminal record or psychiatric commitment....
Sort of like a no-fly list for guns? Okay, we can work with that. It sounds a lot like a red flag law, except that it's non-binding. Why would a firearms dealer even check it, then?

Also, I would suggest making it national. Most Rust Belt and East Coast cities are just a short drive from a different state's jurisdiction.

There’s no ‘right’ to fly on a commercial airliner – there is a right to due process and a right to possess a gun.

Otherwise, there’s nothing to work on – the proposal is as ridiculous as it is prima facie un-Constitutional.

And there’s already a database, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), where prohibited persons have been afforded their comprehensive due process rights.

Red flag laws likewise afford citizens due process – firearms can’t be sequestered absent a court order; gunowners have the right to appeal the merits of the court order to have their firearms returned.

That'll get abused like a motherfucker. You know that.

No fly lists are unconstitutional, because there's no due process.

That seems reasonable. But ...

Let's take a more extreme example. Let's say Islamic fundamentalists raise their kid steeped in the jihadist mindset, essentially raising him to be a suicide bomber. And on his 18th birthday he fulfills his "destiny". Should the parents get a free pass?
Yes, unless you can prove they were accessories before the fact.

Actually, I recall he's said many times that straw purchases (already a federal crime) are a serious problem.

The fact that you hate to say it is telling in that everybody who has any compassion at all is going to have to hate to be opposed with some gun control laws being enacted.

You have to hate to say it, but still say it. 2A probably had some reservations on voicing his idea but thankfully it was finally said!

He's demonstrated some morality and a conscience because it's becoming a realization that yesterday's event is going to be repeated over and over again and with greater frequency.
You have no clue why I "hated to say it".

Why not simply add any and all FarceBookie Tweeters to it. ? They should be banned from intake of oxygen too

What would be more likely to "fly" would to simply restrict gun purchases/ownership to people over 21 with an exception for members of our armed services.

Yeah…. No.

What about the young people who live on their own? Or have their own families? They dont get to protect themselves because one nut murdered children?

You ought to be 21 to buy a gun, same as alcohol.
In the UK, you have to be 18 to buy a shotgun, but, there's no age limit to apply for and obtain a shotgun licence. There have been 9 year olds with a shotgun licence, I imagine they probably live on farms. So although they can't legally buy one, they can legally use one from any age. Yet, we experience low gun problems.

It's a start, guns are safe in safe hands, it's trying to determine who's safe. But then it needs constantly checked, hence why shotgun and firearm certificates need renewed. But if you have corner shops selling firearms to anyone, that needs clamped down too.

Your post try's to make this political. When its Insane how the only change since Sandy Hook is that kids are now trained to hide fight or run for there lives. That's the solution to put the responsibility on them to figure it out? While wishing them payers & luck?
