there could have been more wrong with her that was not detected at that time. And it also depends if she actually took the antibiotics. And yeah viruses can adapt to combat things that try to get rid of it.

Sure, there could have been more wrong with her, but the suggestion here is that the antibiotics didn't kill the virus. And they said she died of this infection.

However we know that the US uses too many drugs, not only in the health industry but in the food industry too. It makes sense that this will happen at some point or other.
