No value added and our education system has gotten far worse since it was created.

Education should be handled on the lowest level possible, district, city, county, state. No reason for the Feds to be involved.

As bad as the feds are, the state is even worse here. Trust me, you don't want the state to have control over your kids' education either.

While this is true of some of them, especially higher education, it still does not justify the existence of a Fed Dept of Ed. It adds no value for the money it spends and there is a direct correlation between its creation and our student rankings dropping.

The Federal Government only amounts to ten percent of education funding. Their role is to establish minimum requirements and coordinate the sharing of educational research and programs

The remaining control of educational funding and requirements is handled at the state and local level

Some states do an outstanding job at education. Others provide the minimum level of education they can get away with and pay for the lowest quality teachers

For those living in states that are or have jumped of the cliff you can change the direction! Mobilize for change. The left is active why not others? Last time I visited Oregon, California, and Washington, everyone bitched yet no one was putting their money and energy toward enacting change. No one is going to do it for you!
