Given the givens, what should have happened to Alexis

Ever hear of the Social Security card?

If you don't think that is a national ID card, now issued at birth and used throughout our lives to track us, you're as big a fool as I think you are.

If you can find a "stronger mind" to help you, think about all the times you are asked for that number and how it is then used.

A social security card can only be legally requested in a few instances.

1. Application for a checking account
2. Drivers license
3. Tax forms

A social security number is optional after birth. You don't have to request one but the IRS won't let you take the baby discount without one.

All others are technically illegal the last time I checked. People are so stupid that they give them out willy nilly. The law doesn't state that they can't be asked for.

You're very naive. if you believe your SS# does not go any further than where you willingly supplied it, "naive" is a kind word.

SS#'s go far beyond what you stated and the practice of using them to keep track of us started a lot of years ago.

thereisnospoond, its fine to say "there were signs" and we "should have done something" but the constitution gets the final word. That's why I disagree with punishment for "hate crimes". If we ever punish for what someone "might" do, we're in big trouble.

Hey dumbass, a SS can't be matched via a database in the private sector, hence, it's a pretty lousy identifier. The reason banks love it so much is that the numbers are unique and easily searchable. I should know because I used to be a FUCKING SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR at a bank.

I guarantee you that if I put my SS out on the net you would not easily find my name. You would eventually but you would have one hell of time. That's because I live off the grid. I don't formally have any possessions, a bank account, property, a car, a credit card or a stupid social media account. I'm a ghost. Finding your fake presidents stolen SS would be easier than tracking mine down.

What we need is a precrime division.

Like the movie ... can't remember the name ... Tom Cruise.

Apparently, that's what thereisnotaspoon wants.

As it is, we cannot know in advance, who will crack and open fire and who won't. But damn, we're averaging one a month.

Luddly, you have been making an attempt to be more rational in your arguments, and I appreciate that.

I'm willing to argue this out with you civilly.

My wife is up getting ready to go out to the store, so when she is ready, I have to go...but in the meantime, let's debate.

I want a solution as badly as you do...but I don't want law abiding gun owners to be penalized over the actions of a fractional minority.

Especially, as this most recent shooting highlights...your gun control measures will only have the effect of limiting the freedoms of law abiding citizens.

His guy, and I like the precedent set in the aurora shooting of calling the shooter by a pseudonym in lieu of immortalizing them by name, so I will refer to this guy as the Navy Yard Shooter...he killed more people with a 5 round shotgun than the Joker killed with a 100 round magazine.

And they both passed background checks.

So how is limiting the freedom of law abiding citizens going to change anything?

Your first two sentences contradict each other.

Actually, if you posted in one particular thread here, anyone here can find your name and possibly more. I ain't saying which thread but the second I saw it, I wondered how anyone could be dumb enough to post there. **shrug**

Aside from that, you really are naive if you think "living off the grid" is possible any more. Just because you don't think you're leaving a paper trail doesn't make it true.

You really better wake up unless you never went to school or the doctor. Give me your SSN and I will have your life history in 20 minutes or less.

Now, isn't that funny because, with most of your posts, I hear banjos ...

Wish you had read my posts because I'm not going to rewrite them for you. Suffice it to say, I have ever said 'limiting the freedom of law abiding citizens [is] going to change anything'. If you had read my posts, you would know not to even ask.

What I will repeat for you is that I wrote that this thread was not about "gun control" so I'm not sure what you might be talking about.

I will also say - its very true that I am the knee jerk liberal yo momma warned you about. But, I also have a really strong Libertarian streak. No, I don't mean the phony libertarian crap that assholes like Cruz and Paul spout. I mean David Nolan Libertarianism, with a capital L. I've posted before that I knew David, left off working for Colorado governor, Dem Richard Lamm and I can guarantee you that he is rolling ver in his grave right now.

I've wasted enough time here and no, I won't debate gun control IN THIS THREAD.

Yep.

I know someone else who says he "lives off the grid" and doesn't leave a paper trail. I sat at his computer and found several references to very intimate information about him. It took no time at all and I didn't even have his SS#.

People don't realize that they leave a trail of clues that are very easy to follow. Like here. Without even thinking about it, posters share all kinds of info about themselves.

Honestly, I don't know why the admin here allowed that thread to stay up.

Whats really hilarious is that he can be tracked by his IP address and someone including this site has a profile on his likes and dislikes. I was on another message board and this guy was complaining about the gay porn ads he kept getting. I almost died laughing at how ignorant he was of being tracked.

If you never get a SS#, never work at a job that deducts taxes, never register to vote, don't use a cell phone, don't register a car, don't get a driver's license ................. you MIGHT be able to "live off the grid".

RC's ignorance shouts out loud with those two first, very contradictory sentences -

Obviously, he has never done a deep web search.

But, I'll bet he has done some of what I listed.

Alexis had a raging sense of entitlement that drove him crazy. He was owed. He was disrespected. He tipped over the edge. Germany, Norway, Sweden, Japan, they have low crime rates because they don't have African Americans who believe they are owed and don't get the respect due them by virtue of the color of their skin.

Your 'Don't Say Something Stupid' filter just doesn't work at all, does it?

Let's just cut to the chase. You want everyone in the US registered in a national database. A database accessible to every law enforcement agency, hospital, doctor, etc.

A national ID card. Maybe an embedded chip. The government able to track our every move.

All this just so you will feel comfortable and safe.

I was very careful not to mention guns or gun control because this thread is not gun control.

We already have a national ID card and we are "registered in a national database" at birth that is "accessible to every law enforcement agency, hospital, doctor, etc".

Embedded chips are a reality as well.

In past threads, I have posted that I am dead set against the little cards that grocery and other stores are getting (imo) foolish and gullible people to fill out and carry. I posted that the cards I do carry, in order to get the lower price, which I believe to be a dishonest rip off, are filled out in the same names every single time: Sylvester and Tweety Bird.

The op has nothing at all to do with that.

ROFLMAO. Care to expound on the "national ID card" and birth database before I ask a mod to put this in the conspiracy tank where stronger minds gather?

You think "stronger minds gather" in the conspiracy forum?

:lmao:

Frankly I'm surprised that V.A. psychiatric treatment is exempted from the gun purchase instant name check like civilian psychiatric treatment. Every mass shooter was a maniac but somehow their insanity was overlooked. The Va. Tech shooter was undergoing court ordered psychiatric treatment but he was able to "legally" purchase a weapon and kill 30 people. He was still shooting people when the local police were questioning witnesses assuming the first couple of murders were related to domestic assault.

He should have been locked up because he was mentally ill.

Sadly, our methods of dealing with the mentally ill are simply horrible.

The right because they've slashed the crap out of public services,

and the left because in the name of civil liberties, they've made it damned near impossible to lock these people up.

I worked with a guy who was clearly schizophrenic. He would go into unexplained rants, spend minute staring at the light fixtures and making strange gestures. He wasn't bad when they hired him, but whatever he was taking stopped working.

Of course, the company was afraid to fire him because they might get hit with a lawsuit, and we all joked about what our strategies were going to be the day he totally flipped out and came in shooting.
