Other than Musk buying it all up - I see no way this is going to change other than government intervention.
The way it is - is not acceptable and getting worse.
Facebook - filtered and shadow banned conservative content during the last Pres election.
Twitter - filtered, shadow banned, created fake account bots to "like" Democrat content so it would be pushed to the top, and finally worked with both the FBI and the Biden administration to filter conservative content.
TikTok - filtered and shadow banned content
YouTube - wholesale banned conservative providers and used algorithms to change query results, and now is proven to purposefully alter user searches so results would change.

This was not a mistake or accident this thing did exactly what the person who created it wanted it to do. This is not the Matrix movies where programs write programs people create these programs and they can make them so they will reflect their preferred result.

I hear what you're saying and i agree...something has to be done about google and its censorship. Gotta be a better answer than gov't intervention though...we;ve seen the history of that. Gotta be something that WE can do about them.

A lot of that is stupid parents.
What adult in 2024 doesn't know that TikTok and Instagram has been shown to contain child pornography? And not just a little here and there. Tons of it. And yet - they let their junior high/high school children use it daily.
The fact that the illegal material is there - is the fault of fucked up, narcissistic parents.
The fact it has not been properly taken down - is Meta the same corporation that owns Facebook.
And our do nothing, camera whore congress that loves to drag them in front of cameras and yell at them - but do nothing at all to change laws.

Clever programming by humans setting it for a desired outcome.

A.I. is preprogramed code, 100,000s of lines of code... just like a human baby... and then the A.I. rewrites it's own code, writes new code and deletes old code if it finds it faulty. Just like a biological being does.

We are sentient.

Yes, but that is not going to happen until it is too late.
It is the curse and tragedy of man. We simply cannot stop ourselves from taking something good - and making it bad. We will do this with A.I. We will keep going and going, talking about it's dangers, but never stopping. Not even slowing down. Until the day arrives when it becomes smarter than we are.

Pulling the plug won't stop it you know.
It will be smarter than us. And it will most definitely create redundant copies of itself to prevent that from happening.

Humans have a massive handicap that A.I. will not have - emotion and biases.
It clouds everything we do, it makes us do the stupidest things.
Add to that, our narcissistic tendencies and desire to make something true because we want it to be true, or willingness to lie to ourselves and each other to promote a falsehood because we are served by it --- all of this A.I. will not have.
And exactly why Google altered people's queries BEFORE the A.I. saw it, so it would give false answers.

Parameters.
It was programmed to respond to situations using it's arms etc.
That is not A.I. - that is data prameters.

A.I. is more of the example I gave, and there are many just like it you can find in short documentaries and TED talk.
A.I. is when it is shown something it has never seen, asked a question about it, and it infers an answer about it on it's own without any information other than what it knows.

The Obama example is ENORMOUS.
It correctly inferred that:
Obama placing his foot on a scale, will result in higher weight.
The man on the scale, because his back is turned, cannot see that Obama is doing it.
Therefore, Obama is doing this to trick the man into thinking he is heavier than he is.

These are all inferred, correct details about a photo it has never seen.

It will SOON reach the point when you can't tell if something is real or not, and no way to know if it is.
