Most people misunderstand what indentures were and were not. And during brief periods in the colonies, indentured servants came over by the boatloads, but were not as common or numerous as people believe.

I think the census takers would have a hard time with that.

The issue is letting the stay in the first place. The fix is removing them and amending the Constitution so they don't get counted, thus removing the incentive for states to let them keep coming.

This isn't an easy problem to fix.
