“Today we are bringing home another American citizen, big thing, very big,” Trump said at the beginning of a coronavirus task force briefing. Trump also said that the US is working hard to secure the release American journalist Austin Tice, who disappeared in Syria in 2012. Separately, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that Iran has released American Mike White on medical furlough.Deserves to be there?
This is politics so no one is concerned with justice in any way, at least, when politics is involved.
We have seen so much applauding by the now known Progressive Socialist Party in recent years and decades. It's still going on full tilt. In fact, for the most part it is all have ever known, and I am in my mid 60's. There is money to be made in human misery. Flesh out the ones pretending to be Progs first. And they come in all colors. No one is arguing otherwise, we're just taking note of the mutants who are applauding it.
A grim fate for anybody. I don't wish Griner's fate on anybody for a non-violent crime that endangered or compromised nobody, and the charge and sentence are ridiculously excessive for something relatively minor. At worst she likely she should have been fined and expelled from the country and blacklisted so that she could never return.
But it WAS an offense and I can't believe the athletes were not told of ALL the protocol before they went to Russia. At least Griner serves because it became such a high profile case and maybe other Americans will be informed not to be that stupid when they travel abroad.
I'm not flaming, I'm identifying you clearly as a mutant for supporting the imprisonment of a human being for 9 years over marijuana because of you dislike that person. You're flaming... just stop I have no interest
Why do you feel you have the right to control the justice systems of other countries? She got a light sentence compared to what other Russians have received for the same crime.
“Today we are bringing home another American citizen, big thing, very big,” Trump said at the beginning of a coronavirus task force briefing. Trump also said that the US is working hard to secure the release American journalist Austin Tice, who disappeared in Syria in 2012. Separately, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that Iran has released American Mike White on medical furlough.
The President has made the release of American hostages overseas a priority, bringing detained US citizens home from Afghanistan, North Korea, Egypt, Iran and Turkey. The elevation of Robert O’Brien from Trump’s envoy for hostage negotiations to his national security adviser in September 2019 has made the issue even more prominent.
Trump expressed appreciation to the Lebanese government. “They worked with us and we are very proud of his family… and they are thrilled,” he said.
Pompeo said Fakhoury’s release “comes as a relief to those who have followed the case with grave concern. We are relieved to be able to welcome him back home.”
Fakhoury’s release on Tuesday drew condemnation in Lebanon, where his work running the Khiam prison during Israel’s occupation of the country in the early 1980s, earned him the nickname “the butcher of Khiam.”
Trump also said that the US is “working very hard with Syria” to free Tice, adding that they have recently sent a letter to Syria about the former Marine who was working as a freelance journalist when he was kidnapped.
“We’re doing the best we can, so Syria, please work with us. We would appreciate you letting him out,” he said. He later tempered expectations about Tice, telling CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that “I’m not confirming he’s alive.”
Pompeo used the opportunity to renew his calls for Iran to release other detained Americans. Last week, Pompeo called on Tehran to release detained Americans after officials there released 70,000 prisoners because of coronavirus concerns. “Their detention amid increasingly deteriorating conditions defies basic human decency,” Pompeo said March 10.
On Thursday, he pushed again.
“We again call on the Iranian government to immediately release on humanitarian grounds Morad Tahbaz, Baquer Namazi, and Siamak Namazi,” he said in his statement. “We also ask the regime to honor the commitment it made to work with the United States for the return of Robert Levinson,” the longest-held American prisoner in Iran.
Also Thursday, he cited the threat from the novel coronavirus as he called on Venezuela to release five American citizens and one US resident who work for the energy company Citgo “who are currently languishing in the notorious Helicoide prison in Caracas.”
It why they do not have the drug problems we do.I don't know her sexual preference, but it would have been better for her, if she had left the drugs at home. Penalties in foreign countries for drugs can be quite harsh. It looks like she chose poorly.

They just drink vodka like it’s water. It why they do not have the drug problems we do.
Like I said in the previous post, look at all the Americans who are prisoners abroad. The all got arrested for doing something stupid. Says that countries legal system. Who are we to argue, right? I mean if she should have known better, they too should have known better to be doing whatever it is they say they were doing when they locked them up.I'm not flaming, I'm identifying you clearly as a mutant for supporting the imprisonment of a human being for 9 years over marijuana because of you dislike that person.
No. In America I get to point out deplorable mutants.Oh.
Well go away anyway
I hope that any friends or family, if she has any, will be denied entry to the country if they try to visit her. She spit on America and needs to pay hard. What a quandary, she hates America and Russia jails her.
Lol.... karma
The trade is of higher propaganda value. We do not actually owe her anything, and most people know this. She knew better and it was her choice. She just did not get away with it. Sad, but it is what it is.She's of little importance compared to the purpose she can serve to America's propaganda effort against Russia.
However, she's far from the ideal choice as the political right are mostly unsympathetic due to her sexual identity preferences. I would suggest that she's of minimal propaganda use to either side.
Also fwiw, Russia hasn't sent her away yet. They still are hoping for a trade.
Sounds like you’re having buyers remorse. Wishing Trump was still in the big chair..?Like I said in the previous post, look at all the Americans who are prisoners abroad. The all got arrested for doing something stupid. Says that countries legal system. Who are we to argue, right? I mean if she should have known better, they too should have known better to be doing whatever it is they say they were doing when they locked them up.
Let's not debate it from now on. Anyone locked up abroad, deserves it. Whatever the punishment is. It was their mistake to travel abroad.
Tell that to Trump. He worked very hard to release these law breaking Americans.
If you side with Russia on this one you also side with Lebanon and Iran on these criminal Americans abroad. RIGHT???
I would guess that those taking a group of teenagers and young adults into Russia would have advised them of those things most likely to get them arrested. Yes.Does someone inform you of all the laws in a country you're planning to enter? It's never happened to me. This is one of those things where people are expected to act like adults, and experience consequences if they don't.
