Gunman kills self after deadly shooting in Australia

Nope....every gun law you guys want...registration, licensing gun owners and universal background checks...only effect normal gun owners...they are the only ones who will obey them.

Like all other laws.....criminals will only be punished when they are actually caught after they broke those laws.
Ffs sake. If those laws are not there no one can break them nor be punished for breaking them.

The trouble is the US has such a large firearm manufacturing industry that politicians can easily be swayed by its power. Most countries with low gun homicide rates effectively ban handguns. This cannot be countenanced by firearms manufacturers in the US, therefore the politicians they buy will not countenance such a measure.

Please. This is no place for facts or objectivity.
Simple fact for ya. 2nd amendment ain't going anywhere you anti gun nuts want government control over your entire life move to Australia or France or England.

Your dementia worsens. I never said the 2nd Amendment would, or should, go anywhere. I myself own a gun and have no intention of giving it up.

I am highlighting how fucking retarded it is to point to a country with a grand total of 69 homicides by firearms over a three year period and say banning guns has failed them because some people were killed by guns.

No laws were ever created for the law abiding citizens silly. Laws are for the small percentage of people who fuck it up for the rest of us.

Nope....every gun law you guys want...registration, licensing gun owners and universal background checks...only effect normal gun owners...they are the only ones who will obey them.

Thats all laws, since law breakers dont care about laws.

Like all other laws.....criminals will only be punished when they are actually caught after they broke those laws.

So imposing those laws does not actually impact gun crime or gun murder since criminals ignore them....and normal gun owners who obey them don't use guns to commit crime or murder....

Gun laws do have an impact....Just like other laws, criminals ignore them too, thats why they are criminals. Normal law abinding people always have to pay for the law breakers. Thats why I cant bar-b-que in a forest. All because some dummy burned down a forest and now I have to pay for it

Wrong...

You guys want to license gun owners.....

Felons cannot own or carry a gun therefore they can't get a license.....they can already be arrested if they are found in possession of a gun under existing laws.

Therefore licensing gun owners only targets non criminal gun owners.

You guys want to register all guns....

Under the Haynes v. United States felons are not required to register illegally owned guns...therefore the law only applies to non criminal gun owners.

See....your laws are only meant for law abiding gun owners.

The gun free zone law....

Criminals and mass shooters ignore this law....mass shooters ignore it when they bring guns into gun free zones to murder unarmed people.

So, the gun free zone laws only apply to law abiding citizens.

Dumb fucking argument...

Actually, it is only 8,124 gun murders...the only ones that actually apply to this discussion.....

And again....it isn't the number but the reason Australian criminals...who get guns just like American criminals do......why do American thugs pull the trigger and commit murder more.

As was shown...we have 357,000,000 guns in this country...less than 8,124 were used to commit murder...

if gun access was what caused gun murder then you would have to have well over half the guns in the country used for murder......

8,124 out of 357,000,000 is nothing.....and of the 8,124 gun murders, the majority of them are violent criminals murdering other criminals...

And they kill each other in tiny areas of our major cities which are controlled by democrats.

The rest of the gun owning country is safe by the same standard as Europe and Australia.....

Australian criminals simply don't commit murder...

But that is changing......

they have about the same level of gun violence as before the confiscation
They have less mass shootings.

Not because of their gun control laws......they had less mass shootings before they confiscated their guns......they have less mass shootings now because no one in Australia has decided to do it...other than the Monash University mass shooting....you forgot that one....and there was another one as well.....

And I listed all of the other shootings that could have been mass public shootings if the shooter decided to kill more people....gun control didn't prevent them from being mass shootings....the shooter did. That is luck...not gun control.

They have the same level of gun ownership now that they had before the confiscation.......so access to guns isn't the problem here or there.....

We have more Americans who now own and carry guns.....and our violent crime rate went down, not up...how do you explain that? It has gone down as more Americans carry guns for self defense...how do you explain that?

they have about the same level of gun violence as before the confiscation
They have less mass shootings.

And of course here is some research to show you guys are wrong...

http://c8.nrostatic.com/sites/default/files/Lee and Suardi 2008.pdf

Abstract:

The 1996-97 National Firearms Agreement (NFA) in Australia introduced strict gun laws, primarily as a reaction to the mass shooting in Port Arthur, Tasmania in 1996, where 35 people were killed. Despite the fact that several researchers using the same data have examined the impact of the NFA on firearm deaths, a consensus does not appear to have been reached. In this paper, we re-analyze the same data on firearm deaths used in previous research, using tests for unknown structural breaks as a means to identifying impacts of the NFA.

The results of these tests suggest that the NFA did not have any large effects on reducing firearm homicide or suicide rates.

they have about the same level of gun violence as before the confiscation
They have less mass shootings.

Please...explain to us how these shootings that could very easily have been mass public shootings, weren't mass public shootings because of Australian gun control laws.....can you do that?

Tell me.....how is anything other than luck that kept these from being mass shootings...since the shooter obviously was able to get a gun and shoot people in gun free Australia...right?

Stupidest comments of the day: "and it doesn"'t matter what their gun murder number".

Of course it matters. You are only recognizing that the gun laws are not perfect instead that they do a good job of limiting mass murders.
Gun control solves nothing, it only for control freaks...

they have about the same level of gun violence as before the confiscation
They have less mass shootings.

Tell us how this hostage situation was kept from being a mass public shooting because of Australian gun laws...

  • 15 December 2014 – 2014 Sydney hostage crisis – Seventeen people were taken hostage in a cafe in Martin Place, Sydney by Man Haron Monis. The hostage crisis was resolved in the early hours of 16 December, sixteen hours after it commenced, when armed police stormed the premises. Had he simply decided to start shooting them, this would have been a mass public shooting...and not one Australian gun law would have prevented it.....

Another thread where loons pretend that laws are meant to stop all of anything. Odium was just saying the other day how proud he was that America hasnt had one traffic accident since the usage of Traffic lights were implemented
Liberals motto other than WE LIE should be CAN'T FIX STUPID. Now this clown is comparing cars to guns...amazing. Oh and yes GUN LAWS that BAN guns are meant to keep guns AWAY from people you moron.

Is this your way of pretending that laws CAN get rid of all of anything? By lashing out about cars and guns silly girl?

Australian gun confiscation did not work.....Australian gun ownership is now back to pre confiscation levels...and their gun violence rate is going up. Explain that please...

Laws dont stop everything
More laws less freedoms...

Nope....every gun law you guys want...registration, licensing gun owners and universal background checks...only effect normal gun owners...they are the only ones who will obey them.

Like all other laws.....criminals will only be punished when they are actually caught after they broke those laws.
Ffs sake. If those laws are not there no one can break them nor be punished for breaking them.

wrong....

Gun licensing....felons cannot own or carry a gun according to current gun laws.

They cannot get a license.....

Therefore requiring people to get a license has nothing to do with felons...who can't own or carry guns already.

Registering guns....from the Supreme Court Decision: Haynes v. United States....criminals do not have to register their illegal guns because it would violate their right against self incrimination...

Therefore only law abiding gun owners would have to register their guns....

Normal....law abiding people do not need to register guns or license them because they have committed no crime.

criminals can't get a license...and they don't have to register their guns...

See how dumb you are.....?

Universal Background checks....it is already against the law for a criminal to own or carry a gun or to buy a gun. They get around that law by simply getting someone with a clean record to buy the gun for them.

Therefore, universal background checks do nothing to stop criminals from getting a gun...and since just possessing a gun is an illegal act for a criminal....adding the crime of not getting a background check is redundant......

No laws were ever created for the law abiding citizens silly. Laws are for the small percentage of people who fuck it up for the rest of us.
