What bothers me about Hamas is their military wing shoots rockets at civilians and invites super retaliation that kills and maims thousands.

I just don't see how it helps their people except to sacrifice their lives for very little gain.

I find this position somewhat simplistic. Many nations have done despicable things. Look at the American Tuskegee syphilis experiment in which the US government chose a village of US blacks in the 1940's and denied medical treatment, even after penicillin was invented, and kept watching them die of syphilis all the way into the 1970's. Another similar experiment was reported a year or two ago with American government experimenters using gonorrhoea in a Central American country. That behaviour didn't even have the excuse of a national emergency, such as war, to excuse it. Or the whole Vietnam experience, the My Lai massacre, and Tiger Brigade whose members collected Vietnamese ears as necklaces and wore them while in uniform. How would you like it if that was done to Americans? Or the unprovoked war on Iraq and the many US atrocities that occurred there. I think you'd better find better reasons to hate Hamas. The ones you've chosen just invite embarrassing comparisons with American behaviour.
