Hanukkah is more like an Independence Day than a religious oriented feast. A supposed miracle is taking by many as more important than obtaining freedom from the invader.Chanukkah isn’t really a big deal in Judaism. It evolved that way in America to more as a rebuttal to Christmas.

What do You mean minor?
Hanuka is celebrated for more than 2,000 years, and among the few holidays, like Passover and Day of Independence, during which Jews say a full Hallel.
Other days when Hallel is said are Judaism's 3 main festivals, so is Hanuka.
