Hanukkah is more like an Independence Day than a religious oriented feast. A supposed miracle is taking by many as more important than obtaining freedom from the invader.

In the bible it is mentioned than even Jesus celebrated it, his presence at the patio of the Temple celebrating the feast of Hanukkah was the freedom of the Temple, this is to say, freedom of using the Temple and dedicate it to worship THEIR god.
