Harry reid should be impeached !!

Dingy Harry has an enormous political machine in Nevada and there's no way a recall motion would get off the ground.

Which means, of course, that The People of the Great State of Nevada want him representing them in Congress...right? And, The People rule this country...right?

If the People of the Great State of Nevada wanted him to represent them in Congress, they would have elected him to the Congress. They elected him to the Senate.

Okay, do Americans today really not know that there is a Congress and a Senate?
The State of the Union is the address presented by the President of the United States to a joint session of the United States Congress

www.scholastic.com/teachers/article/congress-united-states*

The Congress of the United States, the nation's lawmaking body, is made up of two houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate.

A whole bunch of these CAREER politicians should be impeached or kicked out of office..

they have become ENTRENCED and corrupt..

Harry Reid is a crook and a snake, he has the Unions in his back pocket that's how he keeps winning..pathetic he is still in office

a super duper majority of elected officials CANNOT be impeached, but Republican Governors can be

We really do need to start teaching government structure again.

Of Harry Reid was a congressman, he would be Congressman Reid. He is Senator Reid.

The Senate is part of Congress.

Harry Reid is STILL not a Congressman.

Yes he is. He is a Congressman the same way John Boehner is a Congressman. Senator Reid is not a Representative and Rep Boehner is not a Senator. Both are Congressmen.

I said or kicked out of office..but thanks for you smart ass reply

No doubt that whoever it was that took money for victims of superstorm Sandy to be applied to fisheries in Alaska, is going to be very popular in Alaska.

You seem to be missing or misunderstanding a critical facet of our representative republic.

The ONLY national politicians elected to represent The People in toto are the President and Vice President. Members of Congress were never intended to represent the The People as a whole but, rather, to represent The People of their respective districts and states. The framers of the Constitution believed the Will of The People as a whole would best be determined by such a system, rather than having Congress loaded with "at large" members whose function is to serve all The People at once.

In other words, don't expect members of Congress to act in accordance with some perceived notion of what's "right" for the whole country. Their job, the job we elect them to do, is to represent JUST THEIR CONSTITUENTS, and not the common good. That common good will be the result of 100 voting members of the Senate voting for the benefit of their states, and 435 members of the House voting for what's best for their respective districts.

Harry Reid's job isn't to do what's "right" for America, but to do what's "right" for Nevada. Every other member of the Senate does the same thing.

Apparently, The People of Nevada seem to like the way he represents their interests, whether you like him or not.

You are correct, which is why Reid would not be removed and why the people of Nevada would fight for him. No matter what he does, he will stay just where he is. He could stay there for life if he wanted to do that.

Yep. Democracy in action!

Do you have a problem with that? Why?

The People of their states and districts have the power to "kick" them out of office every 2,4 and 6 years. If they chose not to, what's that to you and what would you propose to correct that "problem?"

sound the alarm

Congressmen cannot be impeached

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Nope....but they can be jailed when they leave the protection of their office.

They can be expelled or recalled. They can be impeached. Senator William Blount was impeached in 1798.

jesus christ!!!

On January 11, 1799, the Senate voted 14 to 11 to dismiss the impeachment, arguing that impeachment did not extend to senators

Technically he is, but we reserve that term for House members most likely because it is easier to say than representative and Senator already sounds good as a label.

not true

Quit bustin' my balls. It is true. We don't refer to Senators as Congressman so and so, even though they are congressman.

There is a term of address and there is a reality. A Congressman can refer to a person from either house of Congress, whereas Senator is used exclusively for a person elected to the Senate. The term Representative is used exclusively for a person elected to the House of Representatives.

We do not refer to a US Senator as 'Congressman' as a way of formal address, but we do say the President will address a joint session of Congress where he will speak to the members of Congress:

Remarks of President Barack Obama – As Prepared for Delivery
Address to Joint Session of Congress
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

"Madame Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, and the First Lady of the United States: I’ve come here tonight not only to address the distinguished men and women in this great chamber, but to speak frankly and directly to the men and women who sent us here."

GEORGE W. BUSH, AN ADDRESS TO A JOINT SESSION OF CONGRESS AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE (20 SEPTEMBER 2001)

" Mr. Speaker, Mr. President Pro Tempore, Members of Congress, and fellow Americans"

If you read back, I was pointing out that no matter how much Reid is despised in the nation, he is so loved in Nevada, that he won't be removed.

Yeah. Do you have a problem with that? Why? And, what would you suggest to prevent that?

And the Senate over turned it saying the House had no authority to impeach a member of the Senate.

And no, members of Congress cannot be recalled. They can be expelled by the body if deemed necessary.
