Himalayan glaciers that provide drinking water for a billion people could lose 80% of their volume by the end of the century.

"Himalayan glaciers disappeared 65% faster since 2010 than in the previous decade and reducing snow cover due to global warming will result in reduced fresh water for people living downstream. The study found that 200 glacier lakes across these mountains are deemed dangerous, and the region could see a significant spike in glacial lake outburst floods by the end of the century."

How about some of you folks that think these problems will be easily overcome explain how we will replace drinking water for a billion people.
You are too gullible. They are getting you ready for when they start rationing the herd's water in two years. They said so...

Why isn't this stuff in conspiracy theories? Not one these predictions have come true.

I don't live in the Himalaya's.

Sounds to me like the OP is concerned about China's water supply, more than anything else.

"Under Xi Jinping, China has become far more assertive on territorial matters, the South China Sea being an outstanding example. It has toughened its stance on India’s northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, which it claims is South Tibet and therefore is a part of China. Glacier alarmism carries the risk of increasing these tensions as well as increasing public jingoism and the possibility of armed clashes."

I find it odd, that this AP sponsored propaganda piece;

Comes out, to coincide, so soon after the UN has a bunch of corporations and huge investors, talk about monetizing the globe's water resources. . . . . .

The New Age of Water Investing in a Time of Water Scarcity
Water scarcity is sweeping the globe at an astonishing pace. This is the first UN water conference in 40 years – it must count. This offsite UN Side-Panel explored the nexus of emerging water markets, investment, and innovation with some of the world’s leading water and market experts. The panel will...

What do you mean "how will we replace drinking water"?

Not my circus, not my monkey. But you're welcome to do something about it, if you really feel that bad.
So, you never need assistance from anyone else? Your spouse? Your children? Your parents? Medical providers? Police, fire, military? A clerk at the store? A plumber? No one? Oh wait, you pay most of them. Well, I bet we will end up paying for the people required to deal with all the various changes that global warming is going to bring about. That's one of the reasons its going to cost so much more than dealing with it early, as we should have. And self-centered ignoramuses like you.

HaHaHa, where do you think much of it resides right now? moron.
The vast majority of the water people drink comes from rivers, streams and lakes, moron. The particular water in question comes from glacial melt feeding major Asian rivers.

The rivers will dry up, moron. How would you deal with such a situation?
Where does the water go moron? Basic physics. Matter does not disappear, it just changes form. Vapor exists, it cools and falls from the sky. Do the oceans not exist in your panic porn? Have you ever heard of desalination. Run along and watch out for that piece of sky, it might hit you in the head--not that it would be a great loss to anyone.

Where does the water go moron?
The point is that it is not accumulating in glaciers which centuries of infrastructure have relied upon for supply.
Basic physics. Matter does not disappear, it just changes form.
The point here would be that it is changing location. Terribly sorry if you didn't get that right off the bat.
Vapor exists, it cools and falls from the sky.
Of course. And if it is cold enough, it freezes and accumulates in mountain glaciers. If it is NOT cold enough, it flows immediately downhill and into the sea and is not stored for use during the dry season.
Do the oceans not exist in your panic porn?
I believe they do.
Have you ever heard of desalination.
So your solution is to build desalination to support a billion people. That would require more than tripling the current worldwide capacity in a relatively limited geographic region. Doable. Not cheap.
Run along and watch out for that piece of sky, it might hit you in the head--not that it would be a great loss to anyone.
I will. And you keep an eye out for reality. It's far more likely to do someone with your perceptive alacrity some unanticipated harm.

Hey genius. I've seen the population increase three fold in my lifetime. Just in the last century there have been great storage reservoirs made that had never been seen before--AT GREAT COST. Get over it. It is just another part of life and running around like a chicken with your head cut off screaming "woe is me, the world is ending" doesn't do anything. It is natural. Don't be so arrogant that you think man controls the universe. SMFH.

When I was born the world population was 2,729,500,000. It's now 7,888,000,000. An increase of 289%. So I guess you might be a little older than I am.

That is the whole point. It is NOT natural. It is synthetic; due to human GHG emissions.
