House Democrats plan to push for $15 federal minimum wage

Minimum wage raised to $15 an hour, prices increase, $15 an hour now worth what the old minimum wage was worth.
only if you don't understand economics. higher paid labor pay more in taxes before they can create demand, in most cases.

God you people are dumb, right costs go up and there's no negative consequence Christ :cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:
And, the government receives more tax revenue without any other increase to taxes.

why whine about price inflation when you don't for fuel.

tax cut economics are already worthless, we don't even need to cut the tax rate to zero.

How do they receive more revenue if unemployment goes up?

Employers need to cover the cost of social services, if they want Labor to work. Social services are around fourteen dollars an hour. A fifteen dollar an hour is a rational choice, for anyone wanting to provide labor input to the economy.

not that Canard again. The left has Solutions, not nothing but Repeal.

Unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed, solves that issue.

There are several options, however, we can discuss one option or two in particular.

The easiest and most market friendly is to simply issue some "junk bonds".

Another way to fund the unemployment compensation fund is through a general tax on employers.

Actually, the Democrats had a chance when they controlled congress and had the Radical B. Hussein O ruling as president. Didn't do it.

They had Congress for less than 60 days...and were kinda busy ya know...with that ACA thing

They had a majority in both houses for 2 full years.
A majority is not a "supermajority". Do you know the difference?

Do you understand how it affects legislation?

It's a start and brings minimum wage back to where it should be

A rise in minimum wage should have been tied to the corporate tax cut

I ask this question on every troll started thread on the minimum wage with never an answer. Go figure.

Rightwinger has been working for a company manufacturing wonderful widgets. You started a couple of years ago, knowing nothing but the company was willing to take a chance on you and you started at $7.50 per hour. You worked hard, learned to be punctual, learned more about your job and three years later you're earning $15.00 per hour.

The Democrats (Socialists) come to power and presto, the minimum wage is now $15.00 per hour. The young chap that was hired two weeks ago, as you were, knowing nothing, was earning $7.50 per hour. Now today, that young chap is being paid $15.00 per hour, just like you.

Now, are you happy to have the novice, with a few weeks of experience, join you at $15.00 per hour? Or are you entitled to have your wages doubled as well? Since you are now earning $30.00 per hour, what is done about the salary of your supervisor who was earning $30.00 until today?

So, a year from now, those earning the minimum wage of $15.00 are now below the poverty level and are being given welfare payments, food stamps, and housing subsidies.

Specifically, what has been accomplished?
So in conservative land...actual numbers mean little. What matters is how much more you make than someone you can look down on.

I see.

Guess what? I learned a log time ago to mind my own business. I'm not better off if someone else is worse off. It doesn't really work like that

And then there's the fact that rising minimum wage puts upward pressure on wages

Listen, if you seriously don't believe there will be any negative repercussions from raising the minimum wage, why settle for something as low as $15/hr. I mean, that's better than ten, but it's still not much. Why not make everyone rich? Why not $200/hr? I'd seriously like to hear your answer. If I saw it the way you do, I sure as fuck wouldn't dick around with $15/hr.

*crickets* -- always with the crickets.
Well, fine. I'll answer for them. The reason they won't advocate for making the minimum wage significantly high is that they are lying when they say it has no negative repercussions. They know damned well that it does, and they know that cranking it up to something worthwhile would have a devastating effect on our economy.

Hey Lesh - do you agree with the above? Feel free to answer the question your way, if you can work up the nerve.

Once again what if they just close down?

That's economics, the more you make the better you are off, if everyone made the same wage, everyone is poor as hell

Nothing but right wing propaganda, like usual.

Gravity Payments still has a thirty-five dollar an hour minimum wage.
