How Did We All Miss This?

the economy is doing great in my area, hell they are so desperate for workers they ask me to work..

I find it hard to imagine that you would be a person chosen as a last resort for work, MG. I suspect that you are probably known at your workplace as one of the most diligent, hard working people they have.

Yes other countries may or may not like us but America in general is not better.

Make up beliefs or post any bullcrap you want but America the beautiful is pretty ugly right now. And it's 100% Obama's fault.
it takes more than one person to fuck up a country....and this fuck up started before Obama...

Amazing things happen. Change happens by the minute. Never be shocked by polls, research data, charts, or any other information that's fed to us by various sources. It's fun to watch the changes take place in research and the data that's released to the general public. A year from now, you may read something entirely different, showing a much different picture.

What? Are you saying that things change over time? Is that what you are trying to claim here?
What I said was meant as sarcasm. Look, I read the news, I look at research data, I keep up with the stock market, the price of oil, the piece of gold, etc. etc. etc.. It wasn't long ago when a lot of economists were saying that gold would hit $2,000 an ounce by the second quarter of this year. It's now down to between $1,000 and $1,100 an ounce. The same with oil. The same with the stock market. I read what economists say, and I keep up with the news. Yes, things change very rapidly. Some so-called experts say one thing, and another group of so-called experts say just the opposite.

Always read between the lines, pay attention to your community, your state, and listen to what folks on Main Street America are saying. For example, we're hearing how everything is getting better, and in some areas, they are. But, look at the cost of rent, utilities, health care, higher education, and then look at real wages and the benefits no longer offered by employers. Look at our rundown infrastructure, illegal immigration, racial tensions, the headlines concerning the gay community, 50% of our children are living at or below the poverty line, home ownership has declined, we have troubled pension funds, cities near bankruptcy, mounting government debt, military engagements on foreign soil, college grads working in the jobs as high school grads, our import dependency, our open borders, etc. etc. etc.

We are not doing good, nor are we anywhere near doing good.
We are not doing good, nor are we anywhere near doing good
some are some are not....here in Orange County things seem to be cruising along, lots of construction going on, UE is around 4.2% ....depends on where you are at and how many wealthy people live in the area...
You're 110% correct. There're areas of the country that are booming. Some areas have seen home prices bounce back to where they were pre-2008. Some areas have full employment and the economy is doing very well. Some areas are seeing new construction projects, and some are seeing commercial office space getting full again. The whole country is not in a funk, but a lot of areas are. But, the big picture shows a weak and fragile economy, and there're very few signs that things will get better any time soon. We still have a long way to go in order to consider ourselves on solid economic ground.

What signs are you reading?
Real wages to the cost of living ratio. Employment other than part-time, temporary, and low-wage. Consumer spendable income is not enough yet to support the retail market. We are still seeing businesses downsizing, closing stores, and cutting back on investment and expansion. We still have major cities in deep financial trouble. Pension funds are still in trouble. The decline in home ownership is still a problem. We need to see more new construction. We need to see the economy get better in some states. We need to see infrastructure projects started in more areas. We need to see a decrease in government debt. We need to see more investment in alternative energy sources. We need to see a drastic reduction in the number of citizens receiving some form of government assistance. We need affordable higher education in order to encourage our young adults to get a better education. We need affordable health care.

We need to show some stability in the over all economy, and not just pockets of prosperity. We need to enable and encourage consumer spending. We have a lot of work left to do. We're not going to be able to hang on by a thin thread forever. And, government debt can not remain the only catalyst keeping us afloat. We must find ways to generate a positive cash flow within our own economy, and see consumer cash going to foreign countries.

I wonder why you find it funny I should say that Obiwan? I do not discern any sign of laziness in Moonglow. His personality appears to be quite driven to me. Driven people excel beyond the norm.

It seems as though America's image in other countries is gaining prestige. We are once again seen as the leading economy...stealing that title back from China.

That's good news, right?

We also have a favorable image in general. As does the POTUS.

Do you believe that things change over time or that all things remain the same until the end?

Thanks, but I am self employed, at least part time, the old body can't take the punishment like it used to...but when I did work on crews when things were slow, I never got fired and was always welcomed back when I needed more work...You must remember I take after my Irish Grandfather named Ireland, he liked to pull legs to see you limp...

Personally, I take mine without lettuce. But, I do ask for extra mustard and pickles.

Der.....dayum!

It appears to me that the article is talking about China more so then America. I didn't read the part about favorable to the US. I did read where a good many think the US is the number one economy.

As for positive look at China only 13 of the following rated unfavorable above 50 percent:

I don't see why this is an important issue. Most other countries have some pretty unamerican attitudes about liberty and economics.
