Just wondering. There must be some experts here who know about compensating property owners and such. How will this all work with those who own big tracts of land? Anybody know?

The land problem for constructing a border Wall was solved by Pres. Roosevelt over 110 years ago. ..

The Roosevelt Reservation is a 60-foot (18 m) strip of land on the United States side of the United States-Mexico Border under the jurisdiction of the United States Federal Government. It was established in a 1907 Presidential Proclamation (35 Stat. 2136) by Theodore Roosevelt in order to keep the land "free from obstruction as a protection against the smuggling of goods between the United States and Mexico".

Gotcha...thanks. so nobody technically owns that land? I mean private citizens?

I saw a news story where private citizens in Texas were going to file suits and such....perhaps it has no validity.

Is there going to be compensation? I would think the news story was correct in that aspect?

You have rights to it. Your own fences, cattle, barns etc and it's part of your titled rights/ownership. HOWEVER. When Your Owners "need" it ? G'bye. They have "rights to do as they will and your opinion is BS. Same goes when the owners decide they need a dam, lake reservoir, military camp etc. They'll give you enough for a pickup and a Walmart gift card and you get the fuck out of the way.

I HEARD that the 'Roosevelt reservation' doesn't apply to Texas for some stupid reason but otherwise I think that Sunni is correct .

I would think they will be compensated for the full value of their land. Only makes sense if they are displaced . From what I gather Congress is introducing bills to protect these people.

Border is already owned by the Feds. If they want to locate more inside on private land then they go thru the process of obtaining it.

Thousands will lose their homes and businesses. For no reason. Entire towns will be destroyed. For no reason.

Trump's Terrible Record on Property Rights

Trump’s wall needs private property. But some Texans won’t give up their land without a fight.

You can always tell those who have never been to the border. Some I think have not been out of the basement.
