the Speaker of the House has total control of what legislation comes up for a vote in the House. He has more legislative power than the potus or the maj leader of the senate.

And ask Boehnor how much power he had. He got toppled by 30 Teabaggers throwing a hissy.

He wouldn't bring up their stuff. But NOTHING goes to the floor without the speaker okaying it.
