What more do you want? They did not get flagged because except for the Virginia Tech guy they had not done anything that would flag them. And in Virginia's case they refused to provide mental decisions to the Fed.

Police and speed limits don't stop all speeders - but they sure as hell help keep us safer. Same with vehicle laws and enforcement. You rigid gun nutters are hurting all responsible gun owners.

And we have laws equivalent to speed limits…if you use a gun to commit a crime….as in if you break the speed limit…you are punished. We already have those laws for guns.
There is no law prohibiting people from buying a car and even with drunk driving…you are not arrested until you are actually caught breaking he law and driving drunk. And in many cases…you can even drive with a drunk driving conviction if you blow into a tube. What you are suggesting is this….that all drivers must blow into a tube to drive their car just in case they might, might be a drunk driver…instead of mandating the tube for people actually convicted of drunk driving….

That is the proper analogy.

What you guys propose….licensing gun owners, registering guns and universal background checks……all of the mass shooters in the article would have gotten around those three things either by complying with them….or by stealing their guns, or by a government screw up.

If you want to stop private sellers from selling to criminals….and your intent is actually to stop criminals from getting guns and not to make it harder for law abiding people to sell guns…then my solution is the best. When you get a criminal and convict him of a gun crime put a tattoo on his shoulder. Then, if he tries to buy a gun at a private seller, that seller just has to ask to see his shoulder. If he has the mark, the seller knows not to sell him the gun…….easy….immediate….focuses solely on criminals and not law abiding people.

This keeps law abiding people from getting caught in a felony trap if they sell a gun to a neighbor and don't get a background check……

YOu also do not need to license gun owners, register guns or have universal background checks since all three are easily avoided, already, by criminals and mass shooters.

You save money, time, manpower and paperwork. ANd you make it easy for a law abiding citizen to know if they can sell a gun to a buyer.
