How we know Hitler was right wing.

Yes, Hitler was European.
Your opinion is not worth much.

Sorry, Hitler was no European. That's the propaganda the European-haters would have you believe. Clearly Hitler was Antarctican. Just look at the coldness of his philosophy. Absolutely penguinic. We heard how he persecuted and outlawed socialists, communists, trade unionists, but did we ever hear of persecution of Anarcticists?

What was the first country he invaded? Poland. Where is the south pole?

Where was he from? Austria.
What does "Austria" look like? Australia.
What is Australia? A continent.
And what is Antarctica? A continent!

And what's in the middle of the word Reich? ..... "ice".

Hey, it makes as much sense as the rest of the revisionist doggerel.

LOL Penguinic?

hmm... penguinician maybe. That sounds good.

Damn, I forgot to note that I was posting satire. :bang3: I'm sure someone's out there even now WIkiing Nazism in Antarctica. Or writing it.

the whole thing about hitler you can argue all day if he was a lefty {anti-smoking, pro-abortion, took down cross's etc..} or an extreme righty. but as a poster pointed out whats the point.? He just ended up being a cold blooded looney tune killer.

and like I said, 12 days or so and a 1000 plus posts latter people still want to argue if he was left or right.

Which is amazing....I can't believe how long this thread has gone on. Particularly when we ae dealing with an issue that most posters would be able to check and confirm the facts of in 5 minutes on google.

The mst baffling thing about this thread is how many posters reject dictionaries as the basis for determing the meaning of words.

It seems to me that once you start rejectng dictionaries, it is a slippery slope to simply making up the meaning of any inconveniant words.

The cons who are in denial are adamant that the US is not a Democracy ... too close to Democrat.

P.J.

Yeah, once you start re-writing dictionaries, there is no place to stop. One poster is already insisting the terms 'left' and 'right' belong to liberals, and that conservativism is on another scale entirely.

The next thing to go will have to be the word 'democracy', and also 'liberal' needs to be re-written to mean 'evil' or something like that. How lnog can it be before someone claims tea was named after the Tea Party?

Simply put, Hitler was a fascist. Fascism can take on left wing or right wing characteristics. Still doesn't change the fact that it is fascism. As many typos in your comment as you have, you should really check yourself before you lecture others about how to use dictionaries.

Your errors (in order from top to bottom)

"are" not "ae"

"Google" not "google"

"most" not "mst"

"determining" not "determing"

"rejecting" not "rejectng"

and

"inconvenient" not "inconveniant"

You might want to go read a dictionary now.

If it's so easy to "confirm," then why have you been unable to do so after 1000 posts?

It's all a conspiracy -- dictionaries, history books, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Oxbridge....all a conspiracy against the 'real' truth.

If it's so easy to "confirm," then why have you been unable to do so after 1000 posts?

Obviously 90% of posters knew Hitler was right wing when they first saw the thread, plus there is a pile of facts, quotes and info in the OP and elsewhere on the thread.

Because there are still one or two posters out there who deny what dictionaries tell us, and who flat out refuse to read books.

Let's be honest here - there are no facts in the world that could sway your religious belief in your own completely insane definitions. Do even you believe that Socialism is the sworn enemy of Marxism? I am sure you don't.

No, fascism can not "take on" anything - it is extreme right wing, always and absolutely. Some fascist societies might be more obviously right wing than others - but so it is with any form of politics.

Don't forget we are not only talking about Hitler here - consider also Franco, Mussolini and Antonescu, for instance.

And yes, I'm a terrible typist!

You might want to go read a dictionary now.

First, this is a red herring and ad hominem and has nothing to do with the discussion.

Second, it is quite common for the original manuscripts of great authors (much less the average Joe), to be full of errors in spelling, grammar, diction and and punctuation. As in this example: "Manuscripts Suggest Jane Austen Had A Great Editor : NPRwww.npr.org › Arts & Life › BooksSimilar You +1'd this publicly. Undo Oct 27, 2010 – Manuscripts Suggest Jane Austen Had A Great Editor ... differences between the handwritten pages and Austen's finished works — including terrible spelling, grammatical errors and poor (often nonexistent) punctuation."

Third: nit-picking about such stuff is anal retentive. See a therapist.

Oooh, I'm sorry, wasn't he the one lecturing others about accepting the meaning of dictionaries? Sure, I'll stop when he uses more facts and less hypocrisy. I'm sure people don't come here to write essays or the like, but if they are going to tell people to use a dictionary, they need to act like they've seen one first.

Simple.

The comparison doesn't work: false analogy. He was talking about understanding a concept; that has nothing to do with typos or spelling errors. Nothing.

You're full of it dude.

I'm also right.

This is a discussion forum - and I'm more than happy to explain or clarify anything you are not getting.

You may not have noticed that your own link does not claim that fascism is in any left wing - it just highlights the apparent contradiction of left wing regimes using apparently right wing tactics. It's largely idiomatic.

Welcome to Newspeak. Where right is left, and ignorance is strength.

Yes, and well said.

Just as with the debate on climate change, much of the argumentation is based on the fact that the person talking has not seen the evidence. So we see posters claiming "Melting glaciers - I haven't seen any glaciers melting!" without mentioning that they have never left Alabama.

Likewise here we saw Oddball shrieking that Antonescu was a liberal - while doing to very convincing impression of someone who had never heard of the man.

In the magical world of liberalism someone who believes in socialism is a "right-winger."

Talk about "newspeak."

BriPat -

Yeah, that might make sense if a half dozen posters hadn't explained to you ten times over that North Korea isn't a democracy just because it says it is.
