I cut the cord this past week.

Anyone try Kodi? I am told it offers everything for free, but downloading it and running it is difficult. You need to be a computer tech.

Yes, I have a Firestick wtih Kodi installed on it and it's easy to use. Of course, as with any streaming device, sometimes it can be slow, but it works pretty well for the most part. We have considered scrapping Direct TV and just using this considering we DVR most of our programs and watch them later anyway. I don't watch much live tv other than during football season and we're tired of paying $125 a month for satellite.

Usually you can find a ton of links for football on the SportsDevil addon. They aren't always the best, but if it will save you a ton of money it could be worth it.

Yeah, I have done that before, but the quality of those games tends to be shitty and they buffer a lot.

Luckily my favorite team is almost always on local cable. The only times I have to watch them on there is if it is on Thursday Night NFL Network, or if for some odd reason it is a blacked out home game, which rarely ever happens.

What do you use to DVR content? How many channels can you DVR at the same time?

On PSVUE you can DVR up to 1000 shows at once. I don't think it's even possible but that's what they claim lol

The ole moral equivalence defense. Tell the cop some people watch pirate boxes so he should ignore your 12 over.

I'm not breaking the law... you said yourself you have a fucking Kodi box. It's like I'm arguing with a fucking retard.
I said the addons made it illegal, like the box you bought. I said I built a htpc and installed OpenElec, which only has Kodi. They are open source and free for redistribution. You are seriously stupid to argue the point.

Addons DO NOT make it illegal. Kodi simply uses a disclaimer to keep them out of possibly legal problems...

Are you arguing the law at this point? My Qbox came with the addons pre-downloaded btw... Addons are free distribution, the site I posted earlier shows you were to get them.

LOL, this retard thinks it's legal to use illegal equipment.

Kodi, the very popular media center, has declared war on people who use their name to promote “pirate addon(s).” Now that the Kodi Team has a trademark in the United States, they plan to enforce it.

People can still make Kodi add-ons and sell boxes with Kodi, but if you sell a box that has an altered version of Kodi that promotes pirating or “free movies and free TV shows,” they will use their trademark to stop you.

Kodi does allow people to make add-ons for their open source program and even allows you to sell boxes with Kodi as long as you do not alter Kodi in any way. If you sell a version of Kodi that has been altered, you have violated their terms of service, and Kodi intendeds to stop it.

Here is a part of the post the Kodi team made on their website.

The Solution

Our solution to this problem is pretty straightforward. We now own the trademark to Kodi, and we plan to use it to finally battle the mass confusion created by those seeking to profit on unaware users.

This means we will issue trademark takedown notices anywhere we think the likelihood for confusion is high. If you are selling a box on your website designed to trick users into thinking broken add-ons come from us and work perfectly, so you can make a buck, we’re going to do everything we can to stop you. If you are making a video in which you claim to be a Kodi developer or Kodi team member or you are just using the Kodi name while assuring users that some pirate add-on is totally legal and isn’t going to break next week, we will do everything we can to take you down.

If you see somebody selling a box that’s “fully loaded” or comes with the phrase “Free movies and TV with Kodi,” please, ask them to stop. And let us know. It’s OK to sell a vanilla Kodi box. It’s OK to sell a fully loaded box that doesn’t have Kodi installed or fully rebrands Kodi to something else entirely. It is not OK to sell a fully loaded Kodi box.

You are just making a fool of yourself. I flat out showed you the U.S. law on streaming. At this point I don't know what else to say. If you can't understand the law and how it works, then well you're brain dead.

And you don't even understand what you just posted. The people that own Kodi do not want to be held responsible for the addons that can be created and possibly do illegal things in certain countries. Therefor they are saying the boxes are illegal if they are selling them as "Kodi" boxes with addons pre-loaded... and therefor saying that the addons are part of Kodi. Please get your shit together.
I'm not a layer and neither are you. You pretend all lawyers agree with every interpretation and you've ignored everything else and just get insulting when challenged. You are not the final authority because you warm a seat in a CJ class. And quit cry... Man up!

Is Kodi legal and safe to use in US, UK, Australia, Canada, or Germany? That’s the question many people ask when considering whether to install Kodi on their PC, Mac, Amazon Fire TV, Linux, Android, or any other streaming device Kodi is supported on. Depending on what you use Kodi for, there is a real possibility you might get into legal trouble.
If you use Kodi to stream movies and TV shows using unofficial Kodi addons like Exodus or SALTS, you might be doing something illegal whether you know it or not. Read the following guide for steps to safeguard and hide your activities and viewing habits on Kodi. Learn how to use Kodi safely and anonymously with VPN.

The answer is Yes, Kodi is legal. However, Kodi users in UK, USA, Australia, Ireland, France, Canada and Germany have received copyright infringement notices as a result of using certain Kodi add-ons. There is nothing illegal about downloading and installing Kodi itself. The legal issues from the fact that a lot of movie add-ons and live TV Plugins do get their content from pirated sources.

You keep posting the same shit, and I posted you the law. I posted you a link from a LAW website about the LAW. What part about that do you NOT understand? Kodi boxes are NOT illegal in the U.S. If they were Amazon wouldn't be allowed to openly sell them, like the one I purchased for myself and a friend for a gift.

Kind of ironic... this thread pops up and today someone cut the fiber optic cable for Spectrum somewhere and now hundreds of thousands of people including me in SE Kentucky are without cable...and will be for the next three days while they lay three miles of replacement cable. Luckily, I can use my Kodi to watch live tv over my internet which is a different company.

Heaven forbid people go without tv for a few days. What will those unlucky souls without kodi ever do.

Oh you sure are a bright one. Did I say it was the end of the world? Nope, but it is March Madness and games start Thursday and you will have a ton of pissed off people if it isn't fixed. If it's no big deal to you, then ignore my post... the fact that you responded any way tells me you are either a an ass hurt douche or you have nothing better to do... which makes you even more of a loser than the people you are making fun of for missing their live tv.

They say that most men have their vasectomies this week (more so than any other time of the year) so they can sit around and recover while watching the tournament.

I know that if I could not get my March Madness fix that I would be mightily pissed. I would probably travel somewhere and stay in a hotel so I could watch it.

Did the same...but all you need is a good antenna and you can get those shitty propagandist TV networks for free...which is about what they are worth.
I bought a 29 dollar rca antenna. Bout shit myself when it tuned in nearly 30 channels lol.

Congrats I did the same....tvfool is a good site that can help you pick a good antenna. I enjoy having that extra 100 bucks in my pocket each month

What I posted is what people should know. Your sniveling doesn't help anybody, especially YOU. Some people do not want to buy devices that are loaded with unauthorized sources. Some don't, some do.

I've repeated said Kodi isn't illegal. There's something wrong with your brain. And you do not represent the law for the USA, you at best warm a seat in a classroom. I offered more information, it isn't as simple as you claimed. Your incessant whining is bizarre!

For the first time in my life I am not a cable/satellite subscriber.

Today was the first time I really noticed. No Fox News Sunday or Meet the Depressed on the DVR. Felt weird not waking up on Sunday and watching 2 hours of complete bullshit in my robe.
More than 2 years without government/social programming here. Your going to find out just how much influence, exposure to that bullshit had over you. Good job! Stick with it!

I much prefer the way it is for me know. If I watch US news I watch the clip I want, I don't have to sit through the spin like a live broadcast.

You repeat the same shit over and over and you still get no where. You don't even understand the shit you post. You still can't understand that the "fully Loaded" Kodi boxes are considered "illegal" because of the copyright infringement by Kodi, when it says it in the VERY first line of one of your posts. And it isn't because of the addons themselves, but because of the way they are advertised, and Kodi (which is now copyrighted) not wanting to be affiliated with addons that they are not making themselves. I've even explained to you how Kodi addons CAN be used illegally but as long as you don't DOWNLOAD instead of simply STREAM it doesn't break copyright infringement laws. Of course I'm not a lawyer, but I've shown you the LAW and you still don't understand it.

You are nothing but a grumpy old dude that is jealous you never got to live out whatever fantasy you must have had in the criminal justice field. The fact that you follow me around the forum like some little stalker dude proves that fact. You make some kind of personal attack, then run to your corner and act like a victim when I say something back to you. It's a never ending cycle. Act like a fucking grown up. You know one of the first signs of Alzheimer's is when you start acting immature? Well maybe you need to get that shit checked out. Seriously. I hope for your sake this is just your online persona, because if not you probably have a medical problem.

Ok man talking to you brings out the worst in me. I'm not going to argue with you anymore, all day long, in every single thread. It's a broken record of negativity not worth it. Time to just put you on ignore. Good luck with your problems.

I tried streaming a movie I knew wasn't legit once. About a week after watching it is got a cease order from time Warner Cable after they got notified by the movie company that made the movie. Spooked me so I never did it again.
Also freaked me out that they even found out to begin with.
