I have a major announcement to make to this board

Have you watched Dune (1984)?
OMG ... what a terrible movie. A real stinker. Bad writing ... even worse acting. But the special-effects were distinctive and worth seeing.
It's one of those movies where I didn't read the book(s) and went into it with an open mind and no expectations.
When I got out of the theater, I went home and told the pregnant ex we're naming our son Paul.
She didn't buy it.

I've watched it at least a dozen times over the years.
I've seen it half a dozen.

The movie I think I've watched the most ... and paid to see the most is "Enter The Dragon".

I'm addicted to movies. I kept Blockbuster in business 10 years longer than it should have been. I'm not joking I've seen every movie ever made.

However, what's unique about me is I see past the movie and into the screen shots, camera angles, lighting, dialog, and writing. It's like I know how a movie should be made. Now I'm about 50% retired and I'm a multimillionaire only 28. Lot's of talk on this board, but yes I'm weird as shit, addicted to porn/sex, work in progress, however, I have god given gifts. Finances, business, and movies.

I applied to a really good directors school for movies in LA. I need to learn how to direct a movie. step by step. Then I'm going to put the many ideas I have to work and fund them and hopefully play them at the india festival or whatever that place is called to get it noticed in hope of making it to the big screen.

Does anybody have experience in this area? Anybody have a movie idea? What don't you like about the current movies and the way they are directed and made? Are some redundent. Are there just not enough of some?

please share you serious thoughts about your feelings on the movie industry. If you are passionate show it. if you hate it say it and why with a passion!

Please, say what you mean. Thank you.
As a suggestion, you can never fail at targeting movies to the conservative market

A lot of flags waving, threats that guns will be taken away, God in school, gay bashing, tie liberals to commies and Nazis........and don't forget to trash Obama and the Clinton's

$$$$$$$

Can't make movies if you're a conservative. It's some sort of prerequisite.

I hope you get screened at the "india" festival.

Me too. They only pick certain ones. Hard work and gotta be good. That's why I'm going to the New York film academy in LA for a year in their hardcore filmmaking program. I'll be doing every position and making 8 short films, while working with all the latest technology.
You are going to school to learn to make porn?

Yeah, that was horrible. Anybody else? Lol..

Let me put it this way... What is your top 3 favorite movies and why?
Battleship Potemkin(1915), Russian, subtitles..Historical event of Russian revolution in 1905
Animal Crackers(1930), it's funny, so is Duck Soup and Coconuts..
Star Trek Movies, why, KHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a school for that?

Avatar because of the story? I mean I get why people love it, with the effects and all that. But the story is one of the most generic plots out there. I mean its Pocahontas like point for point.

My top 3 though...

Gladiator
Primal Fear
Lion King

I somehow doubt you have seen every movie ever made. I probably have dvd's of films you have not seen.
For example 'when worlds collide' (an old science fiction film ) 'a beautiful mind' and 'flying daggers'
That's just three films I can see the dvd's from here, without getting out of my chair to look through my shelves.

They are not candidates for my favourite films, and I find it hard to list my favourite three in order.

I also have the dvd of the aforementioned 'dune' and I thought it was quite inspiring.

I have a history of being affected by Stanley Kubrick films. I saw ' paths of glory ' after school one night in a church hall. It was raining when I went in and I was glad I was wet because other kids would have seen I cried.
Then years later in my youth I went to see ' 2001 a space odyssey' when it came out in London. I was awe struck and when I came out of the theatre I felt like an ant. Then I found I had missed the last train home and I had to wander around London's streets all night, which reinforced the impact of the film. I was also impressed by 'Barry Lyndon' as it is like one long moving oil painting.

Kubrick GREAT director. One of my favorites. What made you awe struck? Can you be specific?

Yes! The long shots and scenes in that film and silent background, and 101 dialog scenes made that movie grab your attention. It also shined Bruce Lees skills.

What type of storys do you like? Feel good storys with happy endings? Story's where one regains his honor? Story's where the man accomplished what he dreamed to accomplish?.

Find a copy of "Immortal Beloved" somewhere. It is Gary Oldman acting his butt off and not for the money. When he is acting for money, like in the Batman films, he phones it in.

Plus Immortal Beloved has Isabella Rosselini! Hollywood royalty by birth.

I hope you do make it to the Sundance film festival.

Regards from Rosie

Thank you for contributing. I've seen that movie and I'm going to watch it again. Thanks to you. :) Thanks for the encouragement.

All that is good, and stories with great messages seems to me would be a great thing to do again in this nation. The main thing is trying to make movies that separate the good people and the bad people in them, and then to make the good guy always win.

I agree, completely. I grew up watching Superman 1979 version and have had that mindset ever since. You want to see brilliant camera angles watch the first superman with christopher reeve.
