I have seen the light

Much better to have things regulated like delaying an airport expansion for four years due to the possibility a specific fruit bat might live in the area.

Create criminal protections that guarantee crimnals more rights than victims in every case.

Wanting to define how each person should act and live under the guise of helping and caring.

I have been converted, years of common sense conservative and republican thought have won me over. I am saved. But I will need help as I transition a mind lost so long in liberalism. So please correct any lingering liberal ideas as I reform myself.

I now believe: Freedom is all you need and government should leave us alone. The Federal deficit started in 2009. Unions and teachers are the fault of our educational woes. Fannie and Freddie all by themselves caused the financial meltdown. The unemployed are not looking for jobs and are lazy to boot. Taxes are bad bad bad. Corporations are the best and really honest people. Global warming is a fraud made up by tree huggers. Our founding principles were perfect, Ms Bachmann showed me the way. Slavery was really kinda nice. Social Security, Medicare, and Healthcare are socialism. Minimum wage is too high and outsourcing is a just great. Joe McCarthy was just one super guy. And Sarah, Glenn, and Michelle Bachmann are super patriots who really know history. Any criticism of American policy is anti American hate. Am I right so far?

So fellow conservatives, republicans, tea partyers, and righties, what have I missed? Help me see more of the light.
Yep...and the awesomest thing about being a glibertarian/conservative is that you can rail against government programs all your life and still enjoy them to their fullest.

Spin of reality.

Given a choice, all libertarians and conservatives would love to see programs like medicare and Social Security eliminated.

However, we realize that all of us, not just liberals, have become dependant on the programs...not that we wanted to...but you cant help but to become dependant upon a program where the cost of the program is deducted from your paycheck and it is a program that has been active for years.

Thats the point we are trying to make....stop with the idea of NEW social programs because once you get the general public atttached to the programs, it will be impossible to wean them off of them....and, as we are seeing, social programs end up be losing propositions in the long run.

I now believe: Freedom is all you need and government should leave us alone. A true step in the right direction. The Federal deficit started in 2009. No, Jefferson was the last Pres to rid us of that. Unions and teachers are the fault of our educational woes. Toss in a lifetime on welfare for generations and the DoE, you have a nice multiprong fork stabbing our childrens future. Fannie and Freddie all by themselves caused the financial meltdown. No, they helped, but it wasn't just F and F. The unemployed are not looking for jobs and are lazy to boot. No, not even close. some are taking advantage, that's human nature. Taxes are bad bad bad. Yes and no. wasting my taxes is bad. Corporations are the best and really honest people. meh, that's where many jobs are. Global warming is a fraud made up by tree huggers. No, it's sponsored by people that want to make billions by forcing us to use thier products. Our founding principles were perfect, As close as humanly possible. Ms Bachmann showed me the way. Slavery was really kinda nice. What? who told you that? Social Security, Medicare, and Healthcare are socialism. Minimum wage is too high Yes, it's killed jobs for teens, that's why they have the highest unemployment rate.and outsourcing is a just great.since when? Joe McCarthy was just one super guy. And Sarah, Glenn, and Michelle Bachmann are super patriots who really know history. Not a SP, but he does know his history. Any criticism of American policy is anti American hate. no Am I right so far? not really, but liberalism is a mental disorder and it takes a while to shake it off. But just admitting you have a problem is the first step.

So fellow conservatives, republicans, tea partyers, and righties, what have I missed? Help me see more of the light.

You forgot; "gun control is hitting your taget"

You need to go study the history of this country and understand WHY these programs were started.

When they were NOT in place the elderly who had no opportunity to save for their retirements were living in chicken coops or the street.

We became dependent on these programs because they were the BEST way to insure people had some dignity in old age.

You could start by using that light to look up the correct spelling of the plural form of Tea Party members. Or you could find that a corporation is not a "people".

Of course, I never accused liberals of being educated.

Heaven forbid they turn to family or the community for aid. gee that would be just awfull.

I do not need to study the history of this country. I have already done so...but thanks for the advice.

SS was instituted as a FORCED savings plan for all intents and purposes...becuase it was beleived by government that Americans prefer to spend more on TODAY without a concern for tomorrow.

It was and still is a "daddy government" plan.

So the Government in their iinfinite wisdom decided it best to take money from you today and give it back to you when you retire...at an age that THEY decide is appropriate.

The "elderly" you speak of?

If they took what SS took out of their check and saved it on their own, they would have the same amount for retirement but without government intervention.

It really isnt hypoctritical...and it is spin when you say it is.

Why should I give up my social security seeing as I have had money involuntarily deducted from my weekly income (FICA) for 35 years with the promise that I will get it back weekly when I retire?

I am against the program....give me my money back that you took with modest interest (bank rate for those years) and I will gladly say end the program.

I imagine he ran across it at some point during his Harvard education; if not before.

Yea, probably when he was a kid growing up in Midland Texas, killing frogs with his BB gun and blowing them up with firecrackers.

A Philosophy With Roots In Conservative Texas Soil

I actually don't think you should give it back. But then what about the people who pay in to the system and then need to get help either through food stamps, unemployment, etc....Calling them freeloaders is hypocritical. (not calling you out specifically) They are entitled to this aid just as you are entitled to what you need.

Is it really too hard for you to follow the Dem talking point of "Obama is Reaganesque"? Just act like you and Obama actually love America and Freedom until he gets re-elected in 2012 then you can go back to your America hating that you're so comfortable with.

Would that really be too much for you Kommrade?

In order for President Obama to be "Reaganesque", he would have to become a traitor to the nation and violate the constitution.

I don't see him doing that.

And it's telling conservatives cheered on that sort of behavior.

Food stamps is a program I support wholeheartedly...although I do believe there should be a bit more regulation with it. There should be only select places you can redeem them for food as they should be treated as a stop gap and not a way of life for people...and the food should be nutritional and the amount enough to ensure 3 healthy meals a day per person per family.

Unemployment is insurance...the employee purchases such insurance with a .60 cent deduction per week from their paycheck. Some of us use the inusrance, others of us are lucky enough to not have to use the insurance...but it is inusrance that is ALSO subsidized by the two former employers of record per unemployed individual.

Welfare is a necessary evil in my eyes and that, too should be regulated better.

Social Security? Nothing more than the government one day saying "you people are not to be trusted with your money, so we will hold it for you until you need it"

Ironically, we have found that the government was not to be trusted with our savings!

Well you are reasonable, unlike others on this site who say end all of these programs and stop the draining of "my" money when they themselves take part in similar programs. That was the only point I was trying to make.

One can offer much more of an education to others in a debate if one would refrain from spinning reality in an effort to look like one has the advantage.
