A civil war or armed revolution simply would not work.

And not because it could not be a military victory. I have no doubt that an armed revolution could be won. But only if the bulk of the population backed the revolution. Or at least a majority of the population. And that is where the downfall and danger of the revolution would come.

Suppose we did have a civil war. And suppose enough of the US Military was willing to fight for the gov't to make it more than a quick coup. What happens? The gov't has the resources, so the revolutionaries have to have help from the civilian population. For the first 6 months, or maybe a year, that might happen. Then what? The gov't simply says "WE don't want this. We can all go back to our normal lives if the war would stop". And the population would stop helping the revolution and start helping the gov't.

Why? To get back to shopping, Netflix, going to the bar for a beer, driving where ever they want, ect ect ect. Interrupt the average American's lives for long, and they become your enemy.
