Economy-
Blue states without a doubt have a major edge here. The red states may have Texas, but the blue states include California, New York, and other relatively large economies such as Massachusetts, Illinois, and Washington state. California alone has an economy that is roughly the same size as that of France, and New York’s GDP is roughly the same size as that of Canada. The only red state by comparison that has a similarly large economy is that of Texas, and Texas is the only red state that has a GDP of over 1 trillion dollars. Another important distinction to make is that red states take more from the federal government compared to what they contribute, making them far more financially needy and dependent.
