Can a President "stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody" and then pardon himself/herself?
 
"Can" is a very encompassing verb. A person "can" do something, be physically able to, especially if the person is entirely willing to accept the consequences.
The President of the United States is not above Constitutional law, eventually. That is to say, it might take some time, but if the President's illegal act does not justify itself somehow, for example, to save the nation, then the Constitution will catch up with him/her.
Unless there is an even more serious coup d'état than the one gradually brought about by the two nefarious political parties to put themselves in power.
