Since, I have been reading about FDR policies over the last month or so--preparing for the Great Depression.

President Obama might take note that FDR did in fact have conservatives surrounding him with some of the policies he enacted.

In fact one of the policies was to CUT government/politicans PAY. He did it to the tune of 100 MILLION dollars. Which back in the 30's was about as big as this so-called stimulus bill--that really isn't--that is currently getting shoved down our throats.

So P. Obama if you really want to be an FDR type President why don't you start with the salaries on Capital Hill. Maybe cut out some of those "perks" too. Like the 300 MILLION for new leased hybrid cars to drive around, gratitude of the American taxpayer. They can afford to buy their own.

You know the same guys that got us into this mess in the first place, by pressuring banks (Freddie/Fannie) into loaning out money who could not pay it back. Most of whom have never had to balance a checkbook in their entire lives.

Why not start right in your own backyard?

Congress gets a pay increase during a recession and the Obama Administration is silent. Interesting... :eusa_whistle:

Perhaps the theory is that since the Democrat controlled House failed to exercise its oversight authority to take action for the last two years to prevent our financial system from crashing, if we pay them more maybe they'll do better in the future. Of course, the same reasoning suggests that if we now pay banking executives less, they'll probably do an even worse job than they have been doing.

Guess who's other administration did the exact same thing? The Carter administration--congress immediately gave themselves a raise--when we had 10% unemployment. Carter was also chastized in later years for giving his staff a huge pay raise.

Our salaries are getting cut, we are loosing jobs & will these guys cut back on their own salaries & perks. Heck NO--they give themselves a pay raise! Unbelievable.
