The Constitution defines "treason" thusly:
" Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."
Note the use of the plural in " levying War against them." In other words, making war against any of the states in the United States is an act of treason. If anyone is guilty of treason, it's Lincoln and the Union States. They made war on the Confederacy and invaded those states.
Why should anyone value a fascist totalitarian union that makes war on its own citizens?
The Southern states committed treason by seceding from the United States and firing on Fort Sumter.
My regret is that the United States Army did not make better use of the Henry Rifle and the Gatling Gun. These would have annihilated the Confederate Army and facilitated Reconstruction. Southern white women who wanted to get married would have had to choose between freed slaves, or the Union veterans who had killed their male relatives and sweethearts.
The culture of the South would have been pulled out by the roots and thrown away. The South has always been the armpit of the United States, if not the rectum.
