While that is actually a fair question it must be noted that what God actually is or is not, is not defined. Also the Earth is believed to be 5 billion years old, with perhaps the first billion years to volatile so with the Universe if true being 13 or more billion years old there was 8 to 9 billion years of existence before the Earth formed. God would have come here with all that time behind, so deriving Earths creation with Universal creation is a common mistake. We also do not know if the universe we see is everything that is.
