I'm A Teacher. Here's Why I'm Cheering My New Freedom From Unions

I know exactly how she feels,my mother was a teacher for 15 years and went ABOVE and BEYOND her normal duties and she never got paid more for it. It was literally based on seniority which is BS...

For a time I worked govt. Can't remember if the union wanted 1 or 3% of the gross. I didn't pay a nickle, because they weren't worth a shit. Seemed to me the ONLY benefit was if fired they'd come to your rescue.

I pushed out a petition because the govt. was looking to fuck us over during the recession. We requested some balance that would meet their $. The petition did well and may have had impact. Anyway, I overheard a conversation between the union and members. Dumb fucks tried to own the petition. They didn't push for dick.

UNIONS ARE SO BAD, I've seen them request what was essentially the low AS THEIR STARTING POSITION. They couldn't negotiate themselves out of a wet paper sack.

Much like socialism unions force people into them that want nothing to do with them and will not benefit from them....

what was even worse until the SC stopped it

was that unions had the ability to strong arm non union members into paying dues

those leftist fascist days are gone gone gone

and will contribute to more people fleeing the fascist unions

I've worked in Union shops and believe me they ain't that great if you're not a person who wants to do the bare minimum of work required.

That has nothing to do with what was posted.
Then don't respond to my fucking posts

Better idea!

Learn to stay on topic!
Fuck off

Union hacks are certainly on topic

You should know since you are one

Really? I haven't been a union member since 2005. You know me so well!

Don't want to know you at all

Good for you. Negotiated benefits have always been a bad thing. I long for the good old days before child labor laws, weekends, vacations and 40 hour work weeks.

Hopefully, you'll finally be able to pay for your own healthcare and buy your own school supplies.
The left always scare people it's going to go back 100 years without them. Uh no, that's not how it works, teachers without unions would then bargain for their own salaries like everyone else.
If you have something more than a min wage job, many times and employer will ask you what salary you expect.
I've talked about benefits during an interview or sometimes after they propose an offer, i'll ask before I accept.
that means I go over salary, vacation, health insurance, retirement plans and any other benefits.
I've never been in a union, I've always done it myself, and I like where I'm at as a Business Analyst.

Go see how the union less charter school teachers are doing . Many leave for unionized schools . Because they get paid crap and have to suffer the whims of management.

"Suffer the whims of Management"

You liberals are so whimsical...…..

My sister is a public school teacher and my parents are retired public school teachers. Not boasting or bragging but I learned teaching in only six weeks in Navy Instructor A School and had more power than should be given to mortal man. Seal Team was also learned teaching there. I should say taught teaching but that was over 45 years ago. I got results using the carrot or stick method.

edit: The carrot or stick method is obvious even to the least casual observer.

A “proud freeloader.” Trypical Trumpist.
Actually it's the Union who are freeloading off of other people's paychecks and the union is about twice as likely to screw-over people than managment.

Newsflash.....you are NOT going to 'get paid' for whatever perceived extra that was done just because you don't have a contract for it?! This logic makes no sense.....removing union contracts just made teaching far more difficult and you still WON'T get paid for it (given how schools are funded). It is a complete fallacy to think that removing union protection somehow benefits teachers?!

Well, it's not unions, it's THE unions.

In the UK they also have unions, but these unions actually care about the teaching.

But then again the UK has far less partisan politics.

Unions are so awesome, people have to be FORCED to join and pay dues?? There's your clue right there.
No problem now...those who don't want to be in unions don't have to be forced to reap the benefits of collective bargaining and union protections.

I'm sure a dumb ass like yourself needs a union.
Once you get a job....then you can talk.

Guess what Dip Shit.

I have been working for the same company since 1981…

I have had a Company car for about 30 years or so..

They pay for all my clothes.

We don’t have vending machines because everything is free….

Every time I turn around the Company is catering in a meal

from a fantastic restaurant….

PS: I bet I could buy and sell your ass.

I forgot, I also get free cable, internet and they pay for my cell phone.

Unions have no motive other than feather their own beds, sometimes called golden parachutes.

Sort of a 'kept man'?

Good luck learning how to take care of yourself if your boss gets tired of you.

You should feel ashamed for being a parasite on society when you contribute nothing. You have no sense of morality but hypnotism will get your mind right.

Your frame of reference has affected your reasoning

to the point where you appear to be insane……

You liberals are very strange indeed………….

Unions have no motive other than feather their own beds, sometimes called golden parachutes.

In the US this seems to be so. In the UK it certainly is not so.

What's the difference?

Partisan politics seems to be the main difference. It's made the attitude of people in the US so skewed it's ridiculous.

The other problem is that in the UK people are willing to pay for education, in the US the right seems to be anti-education, so the unions have to fight and they have to protect, otherwise teachers will suffer.

Hypnotism is easy if you accept the process with no pain and you don't have to watch a gold pocket watch swinging back and forth to put you in hypnotic state that the psychologist puts you in, been there and done that.

Why didn’t she get the union to change that in the contract?

But hey, go see how awesome things aren’t union schools . Good luck having everything being decided by politics and connections .
You don't just up and change anything in a union. The higher-ups wouldn't get their kickbacks.
