Get out some! Speak to people, strangers too, in person, it helps to give a better perspective to life than this hell hole of an internet life!

Today, I had a great experience on the packed flight back to Maine. I sat in the stupid middle seat cuz I'm a foot smaller, Matt is 6'3" so he got the aisle, and short little me got the middle so the guy, a Mainer born, at the window and I ended up talking the whole flight, with Matt too. I could tell with his support of DeSantis that he likely was a trumper too, but did not steer any conversation in that direction. He was a great guy...my age, had a 2nd home in Clearwater, lived rural like Matt and I with more deer than people, only the lucky dog was on a lake instead of a creek and all woods...seemed like he was alone, had a daughter...so maybe divorced? Joined the Army young, just to get out of Maine and see some of the rest of America...Matt did the same, only to get out of Florida and see the world... he gave Matt and I a lesson on buying a new car in Florida and registering it in Maine, even if you are only using the car mostly in Florida...savings on insurance by using your Maine address...

It was a lovely chat about every day life.

Not a word said about the silly shit we argue about here.

I made a New Year's resolution today... to get out more and talk to more strangers...not just my inner circle of friends.

I bet you wouldn't show so much anger and hatred here if you got out more and realized us liberals are just every day people trying to live their lives, like you are...

Florida bound for a couple months of winter to visit with my parents and older sister....we'd stay longer but the hubby and I both have some medical appoints with specialists that took 8 months to get so we don't want to reschedule!

The hubby and I both hate, hate hate hate hate hate to fly....and I have been on airplanes flying since a baby, with dad being transferred all the time! And it was easier, when he was in the plane when a kid....I was scared, but felt comfort of sorts with him being there....I

But since the hubby and I both get scared and much closer to God every trip with our prayers to make it safely, we seem to build on each others fears....

my parents are still doing pretty good ...dad will be 92 next year and mom is either 89 or 90 next year....I can't remember.... Dad still drives, they still live alone in own home, my sister lives around the corner from them and cooks for them dinner, a few times a week! They like to eat out a lot now too....if they have a doctor's appointment in the nearby city, they always dine out while there there....

they just might make it to 100! Their 70th wedding anniversary is next year also! They still are pretty active....mom still cleans her own home, still irons her clothes, still wants to look young and dress with the latest fashions, make up before going out in public, it's absolutely amazing that my older sis and I are her children....since we are perfectly comfortable in sweats and a tee, or flannel for me and jeans here ....and not as prim and proper and caring about attire, as she cares....even at almost 90 for goodness sake! She still has her normal gate, dad has begun to walk like Biden, so he is starting to stiffen up I suppose....?

I'm so fortunate to still have both parents! My hubby lost both of his parents ages and ages ago.

If y'all don't see me posting, the Plane went down, and Matt and I have already united with our two beloved kitties, at Rainbow Bridge!

I haven t worked for about 20 years, Matt 's employer went bankrupt during covid so he was laid off, and shortly after that he tore his rotator cuff and bicep and it took 8 months in pain during covid to diagnose and get surgery in a hospital, then months of rehab every day, and just as he healed from that, we found out he had prostate cancer and then he went through months of radiation and we just decided to sit it out till he turned 62 this year and started collecting social security....

It's been a hellish 3 years, but now it's official, Matt and I are retired!!!

I thought the US had the best health care system in the world, seeing how people spend way more on healthcare than any other country.

Add the backlog from all the Covid era restrictions and ya got an absolute stress on the system.... Not that the system wasn't always stressed in a state like Maine, the oldest population state in the states, just a little over a million people in the biggest state in area out of all the New England states... The closest hospital is 30 miles, on some dirt roads on the way there....if you need an ambulance, they usually send a helicopter if you are critical....too long to drive in an ambulance.

Anyway, where my parents are in Florida, my mother has seen every kind of Specialist that exists, is what my best guess would be....she's 90 this year and dad is 92 in a couple of weeks, and they plan their week, and eating out schedule, around their different doctor's appointments!

They've had excellent healthcare their whole lives which is a big contributor of why they are still alive, living in their own home, still today.

Some states are better than others, but I don't know OF one state without some major problem or 10!
