I'm a republican. I was at my sons' swearing in also. I shed a lot of tears, I was and am very proud of him, but I was also very scared. At the time he enlisted, we were in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and he and I knew what that meant since he went infantry, but it was what he wanted. I was lucky working in a large ofc. at that time, very supportive, no matter what side they were on. Large collections were taken up monthly both times he was deployed. We sent bedding, pillows, a microwave, numerous boxes of food, drinks, socks, books, and even a Christmas tree and ornaments .
