That's what the original definition of "ice age" was before we discovered tectonic plate movement. Glaciation 20 million years ago on the southern tip of South America was thought to have originated from Antarctica WHERE IT IS NOW where ice age glacier crossed ocean via an "Ice Age."

What happened is that when SA and AA broke off from Pangea they were attached, and only broke apart 20 or so million years ago. The Andes and TransAntarctic mountain ranges are actually the same mountain range created by the same tectonic movement.
