Is being "for the Middle Class" the same as being "for America"?

Define 'unfair taxes'.

Let's see me paying 22% of my income to the feds and others paying zero percent of theirs is pretty unfair is it not?

Why don't you list you total income and total Federal taxes paid from income so we can see if you're lying.

in 2012 I was in the 33% bracket my total tax was about 22% of my income

So tell me how is that "fair" when millions of people pay a lesser percentage or nothing at all?

I know what you mean. I hated it when I found out the Mittens only paid aroud 14% in income tax. How's that "fair"? Or Warren Buffet? Or hedge fund manageres making tens of millions and paying.......15%. Is that "fair"?. How about those workers making barely above minimum wage and getting back all the tax they paid in.... plus some. Is that fair?

Keep in mind I am not really blaming the people that take advantage of the tax code. Many of the rich worked hard and spent lots of money to get what they have. Poor people don't give money to lobbyists but they still have votes.

Oh and I pencil whip my taxes every legal way I can. So do you Im sure. Is that fair that you and I can take advantage of the tax code and those with far less can't?

You tell me; What is "fair"?

It's nice how many enjoying the low tax rates don't even work. When was the last time mittens had a job?

He was the Governor of Massachusetts and donated his salary to charity.

That was a long time ago. I'm sure his salary was much less than he makes not working.

If you don't mind a little "socialism" that is.

socialism is an enemy #1 of the middle class

Republicans have turned "American helping American" into "socialism" which means they have become Enemy #1 of the middle class.

It's not 'American helping American' if those Americans are receiving or being forced to help on behalf of the state.

If you are truly generous and helpful people, you would help your fellow Americans on your own, without government force or coercion.

Well, if Democrats were really for the middle class or America, they would introduce initiatives to get people off of welfare and into a job. But I don't see that. Keep people poor to keep them voting for you!

The GOP talks constantly about jobs, but has done nothing in the house to promote jobs.
They just wasted weeks on an unconstitutional abortion bill, which will go nowhere.

What would be real helpful is if Liberals didn't think the reward came before the work. The enemy of the middle class is the idea that you can sit on your ass and let the government take care of you. Oh hey, those illegals need jobs too you know?

Absolutely idiotic.

You've had how many years to pass a jobs bill? 5 years? If you guys really did care, you would have voted on the THIRTY SOMETHING ODD JOBS BILLS THAT THE HOUSE PASSED SINCE 2011!! I mean geez, you guys were too encompassed in passing a disastrous healthcare overhaul when you had the supermajorities in both houses.

You had the key to the vault, but decided to pick the lock instead. What a fail.

I don't wanna hear it.

Progressive economics (aka:Socialism) has destroyed entire US cities (Demtroit, Stockton, etc.)

Or Apple paying 11% effective in 2012 but still feels the need to off shore monies.

The GOP knows pushing jobs is a worthless cause until subsidies for business are possible.

I do not think we can have a viable democratic republic without a healthy middle class.

The great thing about our system is that it accounts for excesses and makes corrections for excesses as they occur. Unfortunately, it tends to be a slow process. While the middle class was doing very well over the last thirty or so years, before things really went south, the battle cry was for lower taxes and a more conservative approach.

So where did that get us? It got us to a point where the money went straight to the top and the middle ended up being left out. The poor are always poor and always will be, although some will make it out and become part of the middle class or even become super rich, but we will always have poor people. The middle class holds the real power. When they start to lose their wealth and see their wages diminish in comparison to the wealthy, then eventually there is a backlash. We are entering such a period of time. The super wealthy have sucked the life out of the economy and the middle class is finally beginning to realize it. Despite the fact that many in the middle class still see themselves as being very conservative, that is changing.

In the next twenty to thirty years, we will witness a period where the super wealthy lose some of their wealth, but the middle class will again begin to grow. We still haven't quite bottomed out, but we're getting close. Taxation will be increased on the super wealthy, but it won't really hurt them. Politically that means we will see Democrats and more moderate to liberal thinkers in power over the next thirty years as the conservative agenda is minimized. We are already seeing this as many moderates are leaving the Republican Party. The Republican Party is now pretty much controlled by ultra conservatives, either social conservatives (who really aren't conservative at all), and by the tea party crowd. That is all that is left of the Republican Party.

This will lead to a larger and more vibrant middle class. As that happens and the middle class sees itself doing better financially then the middle class will once again become more conservative. It's a cycle that works its way back and forth. From the 50's until the 80's, we were in a more liberal political era. From Reagan until Obama, we were in a much more conservative era. Now the tide has turned again. That doesn't mean that no conservatives or no Republicans will win any elections, but they will find it more difficult, and we are very likely to see Dems controlling most branches of the federal government for the foreseeable future.

If you are for America, you wont divide people into classes defined by their income.

If you are for America, you won't move jobs to China and would feel obligated in investing in the country that helped you get rich.

Why the fuck should I tell you my income?

You won't believe me anyway and I'm not posting my tax returns for you.

So if it makes it easier for you let's not use me as an example.

I assume you can understand that some people pay a much higher percentage of their income to the feds than others so why should anyone have to pay upwards of 20% or more when others pay much less or nothing at all?
