Is GOP Health Care Proposal a Big Fuck You To Americans?

The GOP had eight years to construct a health care plan. They had no intention of helping American Citizens get the kind of care that is standard in most other industrial nations. They would rather that we pay twice as much for a system that does not cover all of our citizens, and gets third world results. But the CEOs sure get filthy rich.

Once again, class envy from you Old Rocks, it really gets old. I know you would rather get Cuba's healthcare than the healthcare we have. Too bad for you, that this healthcare bill that came out of the democrats is a DOA in the senate. just sain...

health care reform is on everyone's mind these days. New proposals are coming from the senate and from the house. President obama has made reform a priority.

Universality of access to health insurance is the most pressing issue. Universal health care simply means coverage for all eligible residents of a political area. The united states is the only industrialized country that has not implemented a universal system for citizens under age 65.

Universal health care can be implemented in several ways. In some countries the government directly manages the health care system. This is usually called socialized medicine. In most countries universal coverage is achieved by a mix of public and private funding. Taxation is the primary source of funding but is supplemented by private payor arrangements.

In 2000 the world health organization (who) produced a report which ranked all the health insurance systems used by its member countries. The is the report usually quoted when discussing both the good and bad features of a health insurance system.

It should be noted that the who has indicated it will no longer produce a ranking table because of the complexity of the task. The criteria for ranking the health care systems was based on a wide variety of findings, including but not limited to, life expectancy, infant mortality and cost.

Many people know that the united states ranked 37th out of 198 countries and that canada ranked 30th. But do you know what the top 10 best health care system in the world are?

hey Punk, have you ever had to use your healthcare plan for other than menstral cramps, wait till you get a bit older and see what happens

I have, and it worked quite well, thanks for asking, though.

would you mind sharing what health care plan you used?

Sure, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, like I said no problems, and it was a major surgery.
I couldn't have been happier with what I recieved.

I had issues with BC/BS years ago. PRoblem is they will sometimes refuse to pay for a procedure for some weird reasons...until you push back.

then there are the plans with a cap on them. better never get gravely ill.

problem is any health plan most people have does not stay with them.

access to health care should be a right, but that is a philosophical argument that people get lost on. what kind of a society are we and what kind do we want to be?

CEO only gets a new yacht if people will pay for his product.

People are forced to buy his product because it is the only option offered through their employer and there is no low cost option alternative. Profit is the only thing that these parasitic companies care about and I have a huge moral issue with that. They are not there to provide the service they advertise, but to make money. They are making money by denying the very thing the people are paying them for - they are playing god in order to keep shareholders happy and pay executives ridiculous salaries. Good lord, you are dense...

What exactly is it they are advertising that they aren't delivering? It may be expensive, but I don't see them misleading people in any way. When you buy a plan you get a fairly detailed policy book that tells what it will and won't cover.

An no shit they are driven by profit motive sherlock. That's what a private business does and what they are suppossed to do. If they don't they go out of business and can't over coverage of any type. And the yacht analogy is pretty ridiculuos as well when you consider that profits for insurance companies is down pretty significantly into like the 4-6% percent range. Clearly since they're barely making money, gouging peope is not the problem.

Its is a smaller F-You than HR3962.

That being said one horrible bill doesn't justify another horrible bill.

Both suck.

People are going bankrupt because of health issues and insurance scams posing as plans. Fix it or STFU. We Americans are better than what the GOP is selling.

Yeah ummmm our entire country will go bankrupt under HR3962 then NO ONE will have good health care in the USA....great plan :cuckoo:

Or we could follow the repulican plan which only fixes part of the problem yet won't destroy our economic future....another great plan :cuckoo:

If you don't see that BOTH plans suck then you are blinded by party ideology.

The nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation reported that the House version of the healthcare bill specifies that those who don’t buy health insurance and do not pay the fine of about 2.5 percent of their income for failing to do so can face a penalty of up to five years in prison!

The bill describes the penalties as follows:

• Section 7203 — misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 — felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3]

so your willing to face prison for not buying health insurance

The OP is absolutely typical of liberal posts.
I read the title expecting to see some kind of analysis of the GOP program, showing it was flawed or something.
Instead we get some hardluck human interest story about someone who may or may not actually exist and who admits that the Democratic plan may not help her any more than the GOP one.
WTF?
Is that argumentation or emotionalism?

naw, what you cannot abide is truth. The GOP plan is nothing but a joke. It's not a serious effort to address the health care needs and demands of the American public.

There is no reason to analyze the GOP plan since it is neither a plan nor a solution.

How does it address the growing number of uninsured? It raises the number. How does iot address the issues surrounding preexisting conditions? It doesn't, it ignores them.

How does it address the problem of insurance companies failing to pay claims? It doesn't.

How is your post responsive to anything I've written? How is it an argument at all rather than a mere assertion?
There is no issue surrounding pre-existing conditions. It is a faux-issue. There is no issue of insurance companies failing to pay claims. It is a faux issue. These have been raised by Democrats who then have tried to sell their snake oil as a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist.
The issue is making health care and health insurance in particular more affordable for people. The GOP plan does this without incurring costs that will bankrupt this country.
The Democrat plan (whatever it is today) will not solve even these faux issues much less the real ones. The only problem the plan will solve is how to elect more Democrats next time.

conclusion: The GOP deosn't care about reforming the health care system for Americans if it means making the Democrats look good.

Only if you're a liberal prick.
The real conclusion is that the GOP plan will not get any kind of hearing because the GOP is in the minority currently. Further any debate about the merits of their plan, or even what problems we are discussing, will get swept away in the hysterical squeals of Democrats at the feeding trough. They don't want to discuss them because it will reveal the poverty of their solutions and their lack of insight.

Actually, everybody agrees that the health insurance industry needs some reform. We just dont think we need to "transform" a system that works pretty well for 200,000,000 Americans overnight. Something about the unintended consequences of transforming 1/6th of our economy overnight, as opposed to reasoned and incremental change is bothersome.

Um, who controlled the House and Senate for the last two years? Who sponsored the No Child Left Behind act?
If you're going to lie, at least do so in a way that is convincing, not in a way that everyone can immediately recognize as a lie.

The GOP and American coinservatives have fought every incremental change ever proposed. The right in America is for a sick America because they worship at teh altar of profit and they hate anyone who is different.
