Is Islam a "religion of peace"? Yes it is, but only if you know what "peace" really means

This use has also been criticized by influential Islamist Sayyid Qutb, who wrote:

The defeatists should fear Allah lest they distort this religion and cause it to become weak on the basis of the claim that it is a religion of peace. Yes, it is the religion of peace but in the sense of saving all of mankind from worshiping anything other than Allah and submitting all of mankind to the rule of Allah." [14]

In other words, Islam will be at "peace" when the entire human race has submitted to Islam, or is dead.

ISIS doesn't even bother with word games:

On May 13, 2015, the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization released an audio message purporting to come from the mouth of the group's caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who asserted that Islam is not the religion of peace, but rather the religion of violence. If it is in fact Baghdadi speaking in the message, which was posted by the group's al-Furqan media outlet and shared by several ISIS-affiliated websites, it would mark the first time that the public has heard from Baghdadi in months, after it was reported that he was immobilized by a spinal injury resulting from shrapnel wounds from an airstrike. BBC reports that analysts believe that the voice in the audio message, entitled "March Forth Whether Light or Heavy," sounds like Baghdadi's but it's still hard to verify.

In the message, Baghdadi encouraged all Muslims to take up arms and fight in what he labeled "the war of all of Muslims:"

Islam was never a religion of peace. Islam is the religion of fighting. No one should believe that the war that we are waging is the war of the Islamic State. It is the war of all Muslims, but the Islamic State is spearheading it. It is the war of Muslims against infidels. O Muslims, go to war everywhere. It is the duty of every Muslim.[16]

Now that it's out in the open that Islam is not a "religion of peace" has those words mean in the English language, we can expect that the problem is going to get much, much worse, before it gets better.

Exactly right.

They're like sharks saying they want an ocean of peace. Well...peace is when no one but sharks exist in the ocean.

The Roman Empire wanted peace, but something kept coming up that required them to conquer another country.

Dear Blackrook regardless of someone's affiliation or beliefs, religious political secular or otherwise,
what I find is the key factor is whether
someone believes in living by RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
or RETRIBUTIVE JUSTICE.

The Restorative path is consistent with the true msg in Christianity, for sustainable peace and justice
by ways that are forgiving, healing and corrective to RESTORE good faith relations by love of truth, justice and peace.
this is led by love and forgiveness, not fear and unforgiveness.

The Retributive path is the spirit of Antichrist and ill will and fear, dividing in war instead of uniting in peace.

There is no mistaking these two paths.
* one is led by love, the other fear.
* one is led by good will, the other ill will.
* one is led by unity and inclusion, the other by divide and conquer.

one's label is not the determining factor.
the spirit of how we do things shows our true colors.

are you led by fear or love?
are you led by forgiveness or unforgiveness?
do you seek restoration of relations or retribution and rejection?
do you hold good will toward all, or ill will that drives you?

I wonder how many truly peaceful Muslims would leave their religion but fear they would be killed by other Muslims for the heinous crime of choosing another religion.

There is no way to know the answer to that question, but it could be in the millions.

We defeated the Nazis. We defeated the Communists (but not completely).

So our generation, we've got another evil system to take down.

Once we have a good President to lead the way, we will get this done.
