I believe he felt that Hillary would trounce Trump, maybe he was tipped off about the Access Hollywood video which many believed would be the end of Trumps campaign.

In short, he's a global socialist, big Political Establishment guy. He probably would have only have helped Bush win for the GOP. Biden is a Political Establishment guy as well, so it all makes sense.

Speaking as a born and bred Ohioan, I think John Kasich was an excellent Governor compared to his predecessor, Gov. Ted Strickland. And I also think Kasich would be president right now if it wasn't for Trump's outstanding performances in the debates during the run-up to the 2016 presidential election. And that's got to sting Kasich. ("If it wasn't for that guy......I would be in the White House! And my butt wouldn't hurt from TDS!")

Today, many Democrat pundits do not even consider Ohio to be a swing state anymore. And a lot of credit for that is due to John Kasich. We had an unprecedented clean sweep at the state level elections during the 2010 Republican silent majority Republican revolution. And Kasich led the charge.

Regardless of any personal animosity leftover from running against each other in the contentious 2016 presidential primaries, Trump and Kasich are both pragmatic centrist Republicans. Policy-wise, they are very similar.

The Constitution Party, the Prohibition Party and the Libertarian Party are all arguably conservative. But if none of them meet his personal conservative standards, he could have run as an independent.
