When Rome conquered a people, they would require that people to add the Roman Emperor to their pantheon of deities (excluding the Jews, whose monotheistic religion the Romans respected, likely for political reasons). John wasn’t Jewish anymore. He was a Christian. There is nothing written in Revelation that suggests that. It was the end of the world and end of Satan. It was about how we should live with Christ in our hearts as the world itself ends and the Millennium begins with New Jerusalem with Christ the government on his shoulders.

The great "tribulation” was the persecution under Nero and Christ’s vengeance upon his enemies.
