For me to know and you not to find out.

It's been my contention for a long time that the lunatic Left, which comprises the entirety of the Democrat Party, that every one needs to be exactly identical in every way. Sorry Lefties, but reality just doesn't work that way.

If it were all about equality of opportunity, there would be no affirmative action.

If it were all about equality of opportunity, black people would not be so extremely overrepresented in television commercials.

If it were about equality of opportunity, extremely racist blacks (like several in this forum) would be criticized just as thoroughly as racist whites.

Neither.......they don't care about equality...they want power.....

And they want power so they can enrich themselves. If our system actually worked, Joe Biden would be in jail for racketeering and influence peddling.

The divisive identity politics is just a means to an end.

Nice read, thanks for posting it. Unfortunately, I think politics has pretty much made this issue unsolvable. Nobody wants to agree on any possible idea for fear of losing ground to the other side. What we've been doing for the past 50 years or so is plainly not working, going to alternative options just isn't going to fly at the federal level. So, it appears that any real progress is going to have to be a local thing that works and gets adopted by other localities. Maybe that's what we need to do at the national level: get the fuck out of the way.

Equality and equal rights are very different, and contradictory, things.

No, not at all.

Equal rights IS equality as everybody is treated equally. You are mistaking equality for equity, which involves outcome rather than opportunity.

In a way it actually can work out that way, it is called socialism mixed with Robin Hood economics. Best way to fix America in my opinion.

Affirmative action (AA) has not existed for decades. It has been a kerfuffle for sixty years. The best and most effective use of equal opportunities has been to use the demographics in counties. Jobs in the civil service have been "asked" to hire the percentages of minorities to be close to the demographics of their community.

What has been done in California, is that the counties work to prepare all persons seeking work to be prepared, and to met the minimum qualifications (MQ's) to be able to apply to civil service job's MQ's.

Race is no longer a factor, all citizens or those with special visas are able to take courses by school districts to prepare those who must complete courses, such as a GED, to meet an acceptance to take a written test; if the written test is passed and Oral interview is usually required.
