Issa Witheld From Congress info that IRS targeted Liberal groups

"Where did he withhold it from Congress?" is not the issue.

He has withheld it from the public.

This thread is about him withholding it from Congress, that makes it the issue. Yet, for some reason, even though a lefty said something that is clearly wrong, and is attacking a mainstream Republican, you are not pointing it out, even though you are a Republican.

what is issa not releasing jake?
I have no idea what he is not releasing other than he says it would be irresponsible to release everything.

He sounds like your idea of Obama.

It's funny that the Issa Asses think we are supposed to know what they can't defend. Laughable.
If he is withholding some damned document? Don't you think the Democrats would have released it to the media? Where is it?

It may very well not exist, which would explain why Issa hasn't released it.

It's sort of like in 2008 when all the rumors started milling around about Obama not being an American citizen. If anyone could have found out that he wasn't, it would have been Hillary Clinton. But she couldn't because he is.

Please. Don't send everybody to a blog. Besides, this is two day old blogger shit before Issa's committee turned into a Seinfeld episode yesterday.

Issa directed Treasury inspector general to ignore IRS treatment of liberal groups

The bombshell IRS audit released in May omitted information about liberal groups at the request of House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA), according to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration’s office.

A spokesman for Treasury Inspector General J. Russell George told The Hill on Tuesday that Issa had requested investigators “narrowly focus on tea party organizations.”

Bucking Issa, Cummings releases IRS transcript ? MSNBC
Step one:
The political drama between the two lawmakers began earlier this month when Issa asserted the IRS targeting of conservative groups began in Washington. Issa released cherry-picked transcripts of IRS officials, including one unnamed employee claiming to have taken “all my direction from Washington.”

Step 2:
Cummings immediately ripped Issa’s claims as “reckless” and released partial transcripts from the interview with the manager–who denied any Washington link—last week. Cummings warned Issa that if Republicans wouldn’t release the entire transcript, he would.

Step 3:
That brings us to today.

“I got sort of tired–transcripts being leaked, parts of them by our chairman but at the same time not [all of them]. “…All I want to do is that the American people have the complete story,” Cummings told Hardball’s Chris Matthews on Tuesday.

So what was in the transcript?

Cummings found the very first case was flagged in Cincinnati, the group manager centralized cases for consistency, the Cincinnati agent developed inappropriate screening criteria, the manager didn’t learn of the criteria until a year later, and perhaps most importantly, no witnesses have identified any White House involvement.

Why havent the Dems released it? good question. But that doesnt explain why Issa said he would, then siad he wouldnt. Then released more cherry picked info.

Matthews asked Cummings why he won’t release all of the interview transcripts, not just the one with the IRS manager. The Democrat said he was trying to defer to Issa, but added, “I don’t see a reason not to do that.”

He wants to defer that to Issa....lets look back shall we?

June 17th http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/17/irs-investigation-darrell-issa_n_3455649.html
In recent days, the California Republican has allowed reporters from local and national news outlets to review portions of his panel's investigative work into the IRS targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. The move looks like a rebuke to the ranking Democrat on his committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), and even some Republican lawmakers, who have publicly worried that selective leaking imperils the integrity of the investigation.

According to one journalist who attended a briefing session at Issa's committee office, the ground rules have been fairly strict: Reporters have been given access to a limited number of pages of interview transcripts from which they can take notes (no photocopies). And they have been given access to only a few interview transcripts at a single time, although Issa's staff has spoken with at least half-a-dozen IRS employees about the targeting of tea party groups.

Lets look at when Cummings tried to release the docs in question:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/11/darrell-issa-irs-investigation-transcripts_n_3424166.html
Responding specifically to criticism from Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking Democratic member of the committee, Issa said that releasing full interviews conducted with IRS employees would hurt the ongoing investigation.

"Your decision to publicly announce that the investigation should wrap up was irresponsible, but not surprising," said Issa, in a letter to Cummings. "However, your push to release entire transcripts from witness interviews while the investigation remains active was reckless and threatened to undermine the integrity of the Committee’s investigation."

The position is a tenuous one for Issa, who during an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union" just over a week ago promised that the full transcripts would be released. On that same program, Issa revealed several partial transcripts that suggested the directive to screen tea party groups came from officials in Washington.

So you can see. Step 1 release cherry picked information. Step 2 Cummings asked for all the docs. Step 3 Issa said releasing them would be reckless.

Pre step 1 Issa said he would release them, then decided after leaking the docs that MORE leaking would be reckless. Cummings released portions and that angered Issa.

Got it, good.

June 17th IRS Investigation: Darrell Issa Releases More Partial Transcripts Despite Calls For Full Accounts (UPDATE)

Nice dissertation...the DEMS obviously have a copy of it...why not release it? Hmmmm...? To make others look bad...typical partisan crap...Got it?

GOOD.

Issa won't release all the documents, and his supporters ask his opponents to release the documents they don't have?

Really?

Fail.

If the IRS did target progs on a scale anything like the profiling and delaying done to Tea Party groups there should now be bi-partisan condemnation of the IRS and the leadership at the helm.

But there isn't The progs know this is ideologically asymmetrical AND they suspect that The Chicago Way may be at the root. How else to explain their nonchalance? It's another atrocity which they are OK with. Because it's their atrocity and we're evil and By Any Means Necessary, Baby!

QWB is a reactionary, which makes a mainstream GOP like me a lefty to him. Fuck him.

Issa must release what he is hiding to have any cred.

He does not: with the mainstream GOP to the far left.

Remember: reactionaries are irrelevant to the political process now.

true. Q W wouldn't know a "mainstream" Republican if he blocked him/her from attending a convention or Primaried them out of office.

The issue is Issa tried to deny the United States Congress information that IRS was also targeting Liberal organizations they thought were evading taxes.

This is cause to impeach Issa from the House.

:)
