I don't think it was a good idea, but it doesn't make a difference to me that Obama was there. They were trying to send a message according to their statement. But they should respect the interests of the Palestinians in Gaza. Maybe Hamas is investigating it. But Israel has crossed the border several times lately and they aren't respecting the ceasfire conditions. So I don't see it so controversial.
