January 8, 2014 will mark the 50th Anniversary of LBJ "War on Poverty"

Let's take the time to properly remember what's been accomplished these past 50 years.

The War continues to consume a few trillion ANNUALLY with no end in sight and not even an exit strategy. Then again, we need to ask, what is victory and who is winning? Clearly, the poor are not winning. They continue to remain unemployed, live in inner city housing, sending their kids to horrific government institutions know as "schools" or then to prison.

The biggest casualty in the Democrat War on Poor People has been the black male head of household, who has been almost totally exterminated.

The biggest winner is the Democrat Party who continues to use this same failed strategy, year after year, election cycle after election cycle, and generation after generation until there's nothing left, like in Detroit.

Congratulation to the Democrats for their 50 Year long "War on Poverty"

Indeed. That's the way Obama wants it for his peeps.

Over 15 trillion has been spent since 1965 on the Great Society's social programs
and we have the same amount of poverty. Some on the left claimed it would end
poverty in our lifetime.

for minorities it has been terrible

Worse than apartheid: Black in Obama's American

Black South Africans under apartheid had a median net worth about 6.8% that of white South Africans.

The average white household iin the US has a net worth of $110,729.
Black Americans’ median net worth is less than 5 percent that of white Americans.

$4,955 to be exact

Frank, all I can say is...

YES!

YOU DA MAN!

:D

[ TITLE: 11pm, JULY 25th 1967 ]

PRESIDENT LYNDON B. JOHNSON: Law and order have broken down in Detroit, Michigan. Pillage, looting, murder…

VO: Only a few years before, President Johnson had promised policies that would create a new and a better world in America. He had called it “the Great Society.”

[ TITLE: President LYNDON JOHNSON, 1964 ]

JOHNSON: The Great Society is in place where every child can find knowledge to enrich his mind. It is a place where the City of Man…

VO: But now, in the wake of some of the worst riots ever seen in America, that dream seemed to have ended in violence and hatred. One prominent liberal journalist called Irving Kristol began to question whether it might actually be the policies themselves that were causing social breakdown.

IRVING KRISTOL: If you had asked any liberal in 1960, we are going to pass these laws, these laws, these laws, and these laws, mentioning all the laws that in fact were passed in the 1960s and ‘70s, would you say crime will go up, drug addiction will go up, illegitimacy will go up, or will they get down? Obviously, everyone would have said, they will get down. And everyone would have been wrong. Now, that’s not something that the liberals have been able to face up to. They’ve had their reforms, and they have led to consequences that they did not expect and they don’t know what to do about.

Silt 3.0: Baby It's Cold Outside (first half)

-Now, the Dems/Libs & Progs want to do it AGAIN!

And don't think for a SECOND that Obamaco isn't aware of what happened in the 1960's!

Oh, they know what to do. Pass more welfare related laws, of course! If it doesn't work in the first fifty years, that means that enough money wasn't spent and enough laws weren't passed.

There isn't any social problem that liberal/socialist will not attempt to fix by throwing taxpayer money at it. Doesn't work? Throw more money.

Funny thing
go back to the period of time before 1965
Blacks had a lower divorce rate than whites
Blacks had a lower illegitimacy rate than whites
Blacks even had a higher employment rate than whites

Most people would say the Great Society failed
The left just says it needs more money

Stupid, stupid reactionaries like Frank wonder why women and minorities and Hispanics continue to vote against his types?

Considering that it does not seem to work

Considering that the rate of poverty is the same
All it has done is secured votes for Democrats and created
a sugar coated form of slavery.

Which makes sense because the Democrats are the
party of the 3 S's:
Slavery; Segregation; Socialism

thinkers like Thomas Sowell and Charles Murray started out as libs, in favor of the great society and working in/for for the gov. .

They soon figured out that, not only was poverty on its way down naturally before the great society, others in the political realm but none the less thinkers, like Daniel (Patrick) Moynihan also figured out that, this also had a side that was arbitrary, harmful and in fact worked against itself.

Like all liberal ideas, it failed b/c cons didn't let them spend more.

I haven't read the thread yet, but by page 4 someone lib will claim that.

no, becasue like you , some folks are incapable of thinking, crafting an argument and just accept what they are told to and reflexivity deny/ignore anything challenging their view.

We know that the DNC is the party of lies, here are just some of their classics:

1. The DNC is helping the poor.
2. The DNC helps and supports blacks.
3. The DNC is the party for women.
4. The DNC is the party for the working class.
