Julian Assange: not a hero and a running coward.

Assange broke no US laws. There is no prospect of criminal prosecution no matter how much you think there should be. If there was, Assange would have been prosecuted by now.

He's a creep, and an asshole, he should be strung up on general principle, there just isn't a law to make him do it. IF he had conspired with Manning and encouraged him to steal military secrets and give those secrets to Assange, then Julian Assange would be indicted under a charge of conspiracy to commit espionage. It didn't happen that way, Manning stole the military secrets and gave them to Assange.

YOUR "assurance" that he broke no U.S. laws is lacking in support.

By his own words and actions, he sure as hell broke U.S. laws.

Is there some reason why he isn't being prosecuted? Is there some reason why there has been no indictment nor request for extradition? Tell us. Please. Why is Assange hiding out in Ecuador? Surely you have some sort of support for your feeling that he broke US laws? What is it? Where is it? The support for the idea that he broke US laws is just a feeling shared by people who don't know any better.

If it wasn't Julian Assange but Jean Luc Picard ace reporter for the Paris Daily News would he have broken US laws? No, of course not.

Julian Assange owes no duty to the United States. He is not a citizen, not an employee, not in the American military. He is not under any obligation to refrain from revealing any information no matter how it was obtained.

It just FEELS wrong. We know he's bad, we know he's done something very wrong and just doesn't like us very much and he should be punished. That's how it feels. In reality, he's just a citizen of another country with a big mouth which he opened while he was in another country owing the US absolutely nothing.

He may not owe us anything, but we owe him hunt and kill for killing Afghan informants with his leaked information. All bin Laden had to do was to move in on people who collaborated with the USA against his terrorist war and easily kill with his Taliban contacts. Don't be naïve, Katsndogs. Assange's life is toast. He's done. It's just a matter of time. We'll let the Afghans who lost loved ones do it. It will not be pretty. Sorry.

While all that is true and no one is disputing the facts. The additional facts are Assange broke no laws, is not wanted in the US, the US has no extradition pending against him, and there is nothing we can do about his leaking the information. Bradley Manning will just have to pay Assange's penalty for him.

As far as the Afghans having lost loved ones, they take losing loved ones pretty much as a matter of course. I wouldn't count on them getting all excited about it. They lost more loved ones under the Taliban.

Awaiting the Manning verdict now.

EXCEPT, again, it is NOT a "fact" that Assange broke no laws.

Repeating your error will not convert it into anything but an error repeated.

Then you won't have any trouble providing evidence that he was charged with a crime and the details of the extradition the US is looking to get.

^ pathetic effort at an attempted rejoinder.

One can commit a crime without being prosecuted or extradited.

Sometimes, one can even commit a crime and not even be a suspect.

Alternatively, one can be A prime suspect for a well known crime, and yet (for unrelated reasons) not get prosecuted.

Then you won't have any trouble providing evidence that he was charged with a crime and the details of the extradition the US is looking to get.
You can get someone for collaborating with enemies as a war crime. He caused information leaks that led to a helicopter bombing and the loss of American military personnel and an international journalist in collaboration with Corporal Manning.

Bradley Manning Verdict Coming Tuesday (tomorrow)

This charge is mentioned that Assange leaked with the assistance of Manning:

The 25-year-old native of Crescent, Okla., has admitted to sending more than 470,000 Iraq and Afghanistan battlefield reports, 250,000 State Department diplomatic cables, and other material including several battlefield video clips to WikiLeaks while working as an intelligence analyst in Iraq in early 2010. WikiLeaks published most of the material online.
The video included footage of a 2007 U.S. Apache helicopter attack in Baghdad that killed at least nine men, including a Reuters news photographer and his driver.

Anyone who aids and abets American enemies in a time of war brings grief only to himself as a hostile force against and a threat to the safety of American troops. Wherever Assange goes, laws are broken and people's lives are put in danger by him. I hope he gets stopped in his damned tracks.

Emotionally we know that anyone who aids and abets American enemies in a time of war should be punished. Legally, our ability to punish is limited to American Citizens. That's why Bradley Manning was indicted but Julian Assange wasn't. Bradley Manning is now awaiting the verdict. It should come in today. No one is even trying to extradite Julian Assange.

But emotionally, how we "feel" about it, is that Julian Assange should be arrested and prosecuted. He just won't be.

It is flatly false.

I'm still waiting for your evidence that Julian Assange has been charged with any crime, and the US is seeking his extradition from Ecuador. Surely you can come up with that much at least.

You wouldn't take my word for it if I said that someone had committed a crime and is being extradited.

Ah HA, I was right.

Now that the Manning trial is over, now they are mulling charges against Assange as a co-conspirator.

Manning?s conviction seen as making prosecution of WikiLeaks? Assange likely - The Washington Post

There are still major hurdles to prosecuting Assange, not least because he fled to the Embassy of Ecuador in London when he was facing extradition to Sweden to be questioned in connection with allegations of sexual assault. Assange, who has since been given political asylum by Ecuador, has now been in the embassy for more than a year. There is still a Swedish warrant for his arrest.

Trevor Timm, executive director of the Freedom of the Press Foundation, agreed that Manning’s conviction on espionage charges brought Assange “one step closer” to being prosecuted. But he added that “charging a publisher of information under the Espionage Act would be completely unprecedented and put every decent national security reporter in America at risk of jail, because they also regularly publish national security information

Even a charge is still iffy.

That's ok. I'm still waiting for you to acknowledge that your "question" is meaningless.

One can have committed a crime without having (yet) been charged with any crime.

And if one has not (yet) been charged with any crime, what would the basis be for an extradition effort?

You are not being even slightly coherent or logical.

You just can't deal with reality. Unless they can figure out a way to drag Assange in as a conspirator, he committed no crime and you cannot, absolutely cannot, provide any evidence that he did.

No. You are delusional. Either that or you are dishonest or just plain stupid.

You can look at the words that define a law but you are unable or unwilling to apply them to the facts at hand.

Assange clearly committed some crimes. It is so clear that your denial has to be viewed as just willful imbecility or dishonesty on your part.

Your mind is a black hole from which the light of intelligence cannot escape. It is absolutely obvious that Assange comitted no crime. If there is no way to attach Manning's crimes to him there is no case.

Have you figured out that the US isn't trying to extradite him yet?

There is, in fact, NO QUESTION whatsoever that Assange DID commit a crime or crimes.

You are either a complete moron or fully dishonest.

Either way, you and your opinions are of zero significance.

[By the way, you moron, try reading. I already explained the answer to your last imbecilic question to you. UNTIL and unless they CHARGE him with a crime, there is no and there can be no BASIS to seek extradition. He has not (yet) been charged, you babbling asshole. Try to keep up. Get an adult to assist you.]

9/11 Rimjob spends his days doing salad tossing in the conspiracy whack-a-doo arena only to come out to add his contribution of abject stupidity to this thread.

And that reminds me. anybody who thinks or even claims to think that Assange didn't commit a crime belongs in a padded room with the other conspiracy nut assholes like Rimjob.

Rimjob isn't the sharpest balloon in the bag.
